AW discord moderators are banning people for simple opinions while claiming "we are listening to your feedback"

AW Discord moderators are banning people for simple opinions while claiming ''we are listening to your feedback''

The day devs announced upcoming nerfs to tier 7-10 tanks 10.7. I've visited discord cos I needed to ask something. Silentstalker was there saying that they should announce upcoming changes to tier 7-10 tanks (nerfs) in a more simple way. I just wrote that yeah, they could simply say '' we are turning this game into WOT2'' and the response was ''lel'' and in a seconds ban.
It's 19 days now and I'm still unable to enter Discord. AW developers are claiming that they are listening to our feedback, while the truth is they are banning people for their opinion, without any further discussions. And the best part is that I was saying truth. They want you to spend days of playing to get tier 10 OP as hell tank and most likely spend some money in the process, just to nerf it in a weeks time.

This is the reason I will not spend a dime for a game claiming something and silencing people instead of listening.

Just to be clear ArmoredLabs has nothing to do with the official AW Discord. There's nothing we can do about that.

As for the ban. Don't you receive any message with a reason and duration? (Never recieved something like this so I don't know). If your feedback only consists of the sentence "we are turning this game into WOT2" I'm not even surprised that noone of the AW staff listens to it.

Moved to the venting room, seems to fit this topic better.

What did you actually say? I doubt you got banned over a single comment, unless there's something I'm missing here.

Without seeing the actual messages you posted, is hard to know the exact reason you got banned for. But, what I can say is, we still don't know, in more detail, what they exactly gonna change about each tank. So, imo, calling it a nerf this early is questionable. Some tanks will get nerfed, while others will be buffed. And, as for calling it wot2, I have seen some people getting the ban hammer lately for saying similar things. From the few times SS said something about it, everyone is tired of people calling the game WoT2.0, so they just ban or mute, even if somewhat unfair(within reason, of course). But, like I said, there are already players crying about the changed and the devs still have not released the exact stats.

Sorry to hear of your negative experience.

Personally, I've only had positive encounters with mods and/or staff on Discord. I've PMed SS numerous times, and in the majority of our conversations he was professional and straightforward. Considering he has to reply to and reign in the entire AW community (outside of RU), I'd say his work is rather busy/stressful, so I can imagine he has limited tolerance for insults and/or ridicule (not claiming that's what you did, purely my observations).

As for listening to feedback, a distinction should be made between listening to all feedback and listening to the right feedback. Just because one player voices his thoughts doesn't mean that his opinions are for the greater/common good.

AW has made numerous previous changes as a result of player feedback (eg: removing Armata/Merkava automatic super APS, removing ammo and [some] consumable costs, nerfing the 490, etc.) and I've personally complained server times (in the official discord server) of changes which I disliked (eg: Chinese high-tier MBT armor remodel) albeit without enacting change. Considering this, I don't think your claim about the staff silencing/ignoring discussion and player feedback is valid.

Ultimately, it's up to the player to decide if the final BP reward is worth it for him/her. No one is forcing anyone to spend money. Plus, I'd say the value for money proponent for AW's BP is rather good.

Plus, if the Type 10 is "OP as hell" right now, doesn't that justify a nerf? If a wide-ranging overhaul improves overall balance (and therefore playability), I'd welcome it with open arms. It's miles better than WoT's policy of buffing OPAF clan war/rewards tanks (*ahem* Obj 279e *cough* Chieftain) IMO :P

Although I can't say AW hasn't had it's own fair share of cheese vehicles, as the CATTB has been meta for quite some time now (although it is also being nerfed come 0.33).

Exactly. I wouldn't make any assumptions before knowing the context.

Perhaps @Silentstalker could elaborate? I doubt a single comment can result in a permaban...

Smudlicko had a history of prior infractions on both the official Discord and within the game.

But, more importantly:

I don't think any public justification of actions we take on official platforms is required. For any further info, everyone who feels they've been treated unfairly can contact support.

out of curiosity what can support do about it?  can they give a reason for the ban?   if somebody is mad at the ban in the first place and support takes as long as the ban to respond has anything been accomplished?   I haven't looked for reasons one can be banned in game chat or on discord but I assume they are clearly posted someplace right?

Code of conduct for Discord is here:

https://aw.my.games/en/news/general/armored-warfare-discord

I would expect chat to follow similar etiquette, but deviations appear common because the stream is so ephemeral. There is an automated profanity filter in chat, which turned my utterance of "rebalance" into "******ce" last night, so it might be the newest dirty word... :-)

We actually let rather a lot more go than we technically *should* per the strict interpretation of the rules, but a chat is like a conversation, and trying to run a by-the-book lawyer-type moderation is both obnoxious, and a near exercise in futility.  As in, you really have to be a douche, generally, to get booted from the Discord.  Typically we'll ask you to drop something, then if you don't, we'll take additional action.  Bans are our last-resort option, and are issued quite sparingly.  A short-duration mute of a day or so is much more common.

the point is theyve banned me only for this sentence and nothing more !

I just asked a question and all was fine then I was just reading and wrote down this single sentence and the response was "lel" and then ban for most likely one month.

Its a shame and you know it

just dont pretend here You guys did what you did and no more money from me is for sure now, you can easily ged rid of remaining players as you just did with me since this game is so populated...

Yeah... no.  "a history of prior infractions on both the official Discord and within the game."

Sounds like that "one sentence" was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

doesnt matter anymore even my brother was about to install this game (wot player) but when he saw point blank disappearing tank within 100m as I was playing, he said its not worth it. Back then I could recommend this game, it was a blast to play and even a real forum was very good.

It is not the same and it never will be

Typically, they send the person back to the respective community manager, which is me or Maciek. Yes, sending anyone to support is more or less a copout from me because I know it's not gonna gelp most of the time. But such is the procedure. In some very specific cases, support can ask the community team to revert a decision. It's still my call in the end, but I will listen to them and adhere to their recommendations because I respect them a lot. This did happen in the past, but like twice in total over the five years I'm around, so you can imagine how rare this is.

What also seriously (and I mean seriously) influences the outcome is also the way the ticket is formulated. Like Komi said, we generally tend to not ban people unless they are long term trouble. And even then, if someone sends me or Maciek a PM about somethng, I do read it and consider it. But the support guys and gals are human as well, just like I am. So I can guarantee you that no matter how justified your anger is at some decisions, if you rage in tickets, include profanities, start insulting Russians or threaten us with legal actions (those are our favorite), they will throw your complaint out of the window.

One of the other things that comes up a fair bit, is that some folks don't understand the difference between a short-duration mute and a ban. The majority of the bans I personally have issued (virtually all, to get insta-banned you tend to have to do something REALLY against TOS, posting porn, scams etc) started with one or more mutes from a couple hours to a few days.  Very often we will use a mute to end a problem, we KNOW folks get salty from time to time, it's part of life, and an enforced cool-down usually resolves the issue with no further trouble, and they come back after the mute expires to generally be just fine in the chat.

But we often seem to have folks not understanding that a 1-day mute is *not* a ban, and will instantly start raging at us in DMs.  Obviously, that does not tend to end well for their continued existence in the chat.  Incidentally, you're *highly* unlikely to come up with anything we haven't heard of before, and unless you call us nazis and threaten us with "talking to the devs" we know you don't even care.  xD

This is something I always advise to people opening a ticket. It costs nothing to be polite. And honestly if I was working for support the other stuff would go straight into the garbage bin.

really ? one month ban for saying this game is turning in to WOT is ok ?

we are listening to your feedback is just a bull crap and you are just full of shajt here pretending to be a good guy, while you are the one banning people for their opinions and never ever asking to drop it. You are lying here to all of us, maybe you were like this at the beginning but every time Ive complained about something was just simply insta ban and no further discussion, nothing as you claim is true in your case you are what you are and deserve a lost customer and people should know the truth, thats why this topic cos here you cant ban me so go to your discord thingy and continue to ban everyone instead of discussing and taking notes from  the players that started to play this game in 2015. Im not the only one here or on reddit or discord saying that this game is going down hill and there is nothing we can do about it, other than get banned.

Incidentally, there actually is no such thing as a "timed" ban that we use.  We will mute for a timed duration, or ban outright.  Most folks here have talked with me in a number of other Discords, both official and unofficial, and generally will have a reasonably good feel for my style and chosen methods.  Hell, I'm certainly not disagreeing that the game has problems, it's continually being adjusted and updated to address them as possible, including some major stuff coming up, as everyone is well aware.

But that really isn't germane to the point - generally, "be a douche to people, you'll get whacked."  The level of whacking typically relating more or less directly to the level or repetition of said douchebaggery.  If you're not happy with the style of the official discord?  Well... tough cookies, I guess.  Most folks here know that we don't moderate with a particularly heavy hand, we *want* the place to have a good, running discussion.  If we banned everyone that complained?  Uhm... well, I'd have to *start* with me, and work down the list of basically every member of the chat.  XD
