Lt_Don_Shaljian 1 Posted July 19, 2020 I have been thinking about purchasing a Marder 2. I primarily play PVE. Any comments would be appreciated.

di_duncan 24 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) The Marder's ridiculous DPM combined with PELE ammunition means that it can effectively do damage to anything, anywhere. Even the fronts of well-armored opponents can be "spalled" with PELE. It's rather slow for an AFV, but it makes up for what it lacks in mobility with decent armor and an infantry complement. Its armor is rather resilient against autocannon fire, but vulnerable against large-caliber APFSDS and especially against ATGMs. Not designed to be a frontline brawler for sure, but it can get out of tough situations with "double-smoke" and/or sheer DPM. An excellent support vehicle if you can effectively use friendlies (preferably MBTs ;) as cover. TL;DR: Good in PvP, great in PVE, and ludicrous in GlOps. di_duncan 24 Posted July 21, 2020 Something else of note: The Marder only really excels in CQB due to the nature of its armament. It may be more difficult to reliably deal damage to enemies at longer ranges, especially if they are well-armored. PELE is a means to deal massive damage (especially to lightly-armored targets), but players must be accurate and target weakspots in order to ensure damage output, especially from a frontal aspect. LeoAegisMaximus 6 Posted July 21, 2020 Marder 2 this thing rips and tears, for commander options try Sabrina or Joshua Seagrove, here how i build him: http://csb-hype.5v.pl/?joshua=A1A2A3A5A6A7B1B3B4B5B7C4D4E4F4 Basically if your forced to fight an MBT from the front: break their cannon barrel, track then flank otherwise aim for view ports, Keep some APFSDS rounds for tracking and damaging vehicles from the side especially Challengers with their TES-H armor kits with their massive slabs of side protection and Abrams with TUSK kits. Lt_Don_Shaljian 1 Posted July 21, 2020 The PELE rounds seem to be favored. But, at 70 they only do 5 more damage than the AP at 65. However the AP have almost double the penetration, at 240 compared to 125 for the PELE. Are the PELE really that much better?

This is a vehicle of destruction in all modes if used properly. For PVE there's only the Termis which I deem to be more versatile. But like the termi the marder is a league of its own in PVE. These penetration values don't tell the whole story... I'm sure someone else can explain better than me, but basically ap shatters on angles of more than 65 degrees iirc, whereas pele doesn't shatter. This means that you can simply deal damage to a lot of mbts by just simply pele-ing their roof armor, whereas if you would fire ap you wouldn't be able to damage them. This means that pele is way more versatile (and of course it also has the aformentioned extra damage)

PELE doesn't need to pen to do damage, so its penetration value is misleading. That said, PELE aim points are often very different than AP or HEAT aim points, so you almost have to relearn all of the vehicles to use it most effectively. But once you do, you'll never go back to AP on a vehicle that has PELE. It is god-tier ammo.
