Gas Turbine sound mod

This is a simple gas turbine sound mod and is based on the Voice of War mod: https://armoredlabs.net/index.php?/topic/52001-the-voice-of-war/

There are two versions of it, one which tries to mimic an M1 Abrams and one that imitates a T-80.

I have marked both versions in the zip, rename it and then replace the vehicles.common file in the localisation folder.

Hello! thank you for the quick sound fix and i really appreciate the work. Personally i would prefer the original sound of the T-80 gas turbine i also can show you a video of the real start up sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-hVKc5RJqw Is it possible to capture the sound from the video? i know some folks do play the M1 Abrams and the gas turbine sounds much more different. Or as a idea maybe you could make two mods the current one is for all fans of the M1 Abrams and the other version with the T-80 sound is for all fans of the T-80.

Yes, That has crossed my mind. I just finished this version first.

That would be pretty cool! and i cant wait it! My favorite is the version one cause it really sounds like a M1 Abrams. I am personally more a fan of the T-80 series but the Abrams is also fun to play. A interesting idea which i also had would be the sound of a 5TD/6TD 10 stroke engine. It would only fit for the T-64 and not for all the other diesel powered tanks.

I'm fairly new to modding Armored Warfare, would I just put this under localization, english and then a sounds folder?

Figured it out! 

E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Armored Warfare\13_2000009\localization\english\sounds\vehicles

Is where I put it (you may need to change drive from E to C or wherever you installed in and your build/language!)

Not sure if thats posible, there are 3 sounds, a turbine and a fan sound.
I didn't touch the exhaust sound.
Not quite sure how it works yet but one is pitched by the game when a higher RPM is reached.
That means very little control over the sounds itself.

Version one is actually using Warthunder sounds.
I still haven't found the interior sound but I want to replace that too.

Everything you say is correct. Ideally, you need someone who can unpack archives with warthunder mods and get engine sounds from there. There is a suspicion that the voice acting of the engine there is based on a similar principle.

I downloaded the sound for the T-80 and i need to admit it the turbine sounds a bit too quiet. You can hear the tracks and also a bit of a diesel sound when you driving in full speed. Is it possible to make the turbine a bit louder or in full throttle? Most videos where had seen a T-80 the turbine is always running on full power. Do you also got plans for making sounds for the diesel engines? like maybe a MTU one or a 5TD 10 cylinder two-stroke?

I'd like to but I had trouble replacing the diesel sounds for some reason.
I tweaked the T-80 version, it should be better now.

The tweaked version sounds now much more better thank you very much! A intersting which i noticed is when you holding the spacebar and pressing W the turbine sounds pretty clear but when you start driving there is a little hint of a diesel engine in the background. I am not a modding/sound expert but i guess the diesel is coming from the moving sound right?

It's most likely due to the exhaust system.

Can. To do this, you need to replace the file m1a1_exhaust_ext

Replacing the M1 exhaust sound with silence does not fix the issue.
I think its another sound.

2nd link .zip contains files from 02.06.2022, so my guess is that MEGA might be stopping us from enjoying better turbine FX.

It only affects vehicls powered by gas turbines (T-80, M1 Abrams and due to a bug the Type 90)
