There was never not a focus on PVP.  PVP has always been the goal with AW.

    So true

They saw the giant, platinum-lined, tank-shaped jacuzzi full of money, coke and hookers that SerB of WoT has, and there was a ka-ching noise, and (₽!) o (₽!) Rouble signs appeared in their eyes ... "it's pvp, it's PVP I tell you!"

The way I am reading from the description it would just mean that you would have +1 / -2 MM so I think it would be mainly aimed at tier 8's so they don't fight tier 10's.  Maybe tier 7 but I'm not sure they get matched to tier 9 often

Since if you BHed a T10, you get no benefit from No Tier 11 & 12, they might adjust the MM so, you would be more often in games like

    1x T10 You

    2x T9

    7x T8

So you would get increased chances to kill easy targets, rather than, say

    10x T10

Last few days when driving the milk truck (VCAC) ,  I have noticed, the 1st missile fired after reload

IIRC, it was on Ghost field, glops, I was at ground level, and there was a Sphinx up a hill a bit. I fired, and the missile went straight forward, into the ground, instead of starting to turn upwards towards the target. Even if I didn't get lock, surely the missile would have gone towards my aim point?

I'll check later, maybe someone smoked near me or him and I didn't notice??

EDIT it was some missiles just seemed to vanish, and the VCAC missiles basically have no maneuverability, even with Rashid & the ATGM computer retrofit... it's pretty much got to be straight shot, or nothing

I strongly suspect the BH change is a marketing/monetization decision rather than game design

100% agree. I can see them sitting round a table asking: is there any feature that no-one uses, costs gold, and we could somehow persuade them to blow gold on it.

Wouldn't be surprised if there was more of this coming. Something to do with buying camos for gold, or worst case: gold-retrofits, or just go full-WoT-retard and have gold ammo... At that point, I'm outa here

I also think it helps, or it used to help in WOT, to view every decision from the point of view of

    a. Pvp. The devs seem to be mostly focused on this.

    b. IRL Cash/credits/gold. If a decision makes no sense from a gameplay perspective, it's this. Increased credit or gold sinks, or pay-irl-cash-to-win

You forgot to say that you only get narrows..

Agreed, too much Narrows... in fact everyone seems to agree that Narrows is shit.

I can't believe they haven't done anything about this..., my tinfoil hat theory, is that Narrows is the map that they've worked out how to make people lose on. And when your win rate gets too high, they put you on Narrows, and screw you over.

That is a way many games do it. They gradually powercreep (the trick is to make this manageable by powercreeping only slightly, it's called the salami method).

I KNEW I'd seen that particular expression before....

Salami tactics, also known as the salami-slice strategy or salami attacks,[1] is a divide and conquer process of threats and alliances used to overcome opposition. With it, an aggressor can influence and eventually dominate a landscape, typically political, piece by piece. In this fashion, the opposition is eliminated "slice by slice" until it realizes, usually too late, that it is virtually gone in its entirety....

Compare and contrast with "boiling the frog"

    And "just the tip"

Look  baby .... we can compromise, I think we're ready, but how 'bout you know ... "Just the tip". I promise if it hurts at all I'll pull out.

I guess the OP Premiums are "just the tip" . Having now read the "Battle Hardened = preferential matchmaking"

... I guess that's the next inch or so.

  7. Amongst others:

    • Random jerking into zoomed-in mode, glops and pve.
    • Vehicles randomly jerking their own steering, resulted in 2 crashes in my VCAC in 1 match, both resulted in me being jammed on an obstacle, shot & killed.
    • Viewpoint randomly jerking to the side 45 deg, and then sometimes back again, so you can't tell where you are going.
    • VCAC missiles ploughing into the ground 30m in front of tank
    • Rubberbanding when driving, even when dead, and watching from over some other player's tank, it's giving me a frigging headache.

    Tips to replicate:
Play glops, crash repeatedly, attempt to not bayonet the screen with the keyboard in frustration.

Edit: this lot has happened since the most recent update.

Additionally I fear that the already long MM queues (at least for the PVP modes) will even suffer more.

is there any confirmation re: IS THIS IN Glops too?
Because, say at tier 5, you already have Hell's own job getting ANY match at all, even in a non-prem, and then with this, you are limited to T5-6 only, limiting your player pool even more. I suspect though, that there may be a time/queue size limit to this and it'll just dump it after a set time period, rather than never giving you a match.
Of course this has no effect on T9-10
    .

The other fallout from this is of course, those people with normal tanks, are gonna be more likely to get in the +2 match zone, because they will have to fight the leftovers from other peoples' matches.

... and the effects of mass Strelas + OPhelia + Premium MM too - that explains a lot

Solid choice in the Leo my man:classic_cool: I have 269,000 xp to grind before the i can get the Lec, i have 330,000 free xp i could use, but would rather use that unlocking modules when i get the lec,

as I don't enjoy stock tanks,

Leo Bought. (if it's a dud, we know who to blame don't we ;-> )

First impressions are pretty good, after only a couple of PvE games, just to try it out.
I free xp'd the tracks, and got off-road driving for the driver. It zips about quite nicely. Easily goes up hills that would have floored a Chally, pretty maneuverable.
Acc is .. OK, it's not a sphinx obviously, enough to speedily pull back, behind cover in a hurry, & in a long straight run I got it up to 70+kph.
The reload is a bit of a wait, oh well, but i knew that. Down to 8.62s atm.

Upgrades: installed breech-block, and filter systems for more acceleration, 'cos speed is king. - ill leave the 3rd (& 4th) til i know what it needs.

  10. I have noticed, every time I'm facing an Abrams in glops (at somewhat close range), i can just shoot him through the weakspot under the gun, as if he had no armour at all - at that point, having the rest of the armour is fairly useless. I'm beginning to put the M1A2C at the bottom of the list, despite it being a good compromise on paper, and it moves nicely.
With the Abrams out, that leaves me 2 unlocks left for the Leo (and Draco at some point)

  11. 4 hours ago, Travlla said:

Challi and T90 are both good choices, Leo isn't bad either, the US MBT's are a bit meh, how are your finances, you have 3 unlock tokens, but how many creds? if you can afford 1= go the T90 2=T90 and Chally 3=why are we having this convo? if your halfway thru the Type99 you should have enough creds for the 99A by the time you get the token for it , 15% thru the VCAC milk truck means you have a lot of battles before you reach the T9 Lec, 94 battles has me at 77% thru the grind, i really hated it, but now really enjoy it, *****M advice is coming from a PVE perspective not a GLOPs or PVP one*****

It's slightly complicated, i have too much to choose from:

I have >T9 unlock tokens from:

    1. The Al Hussein - which gets me 1 of: Chally II/T90ms - I've either got all the rest of Shishkin's T9 stuff, or it doesn't need an unlock (T249 vigilante)

    I have Wolfi Unlocks from:

    2. VBR &

    3. M1128 Striker - this gets me 2 of: Draco/Leo 2A6/M1A2C, I've got all the rest of Wolfi's T9, but not the TTB without the Playing through All the T6,7,8 Abrams (I have none of these)

As you say, ther's no way round grinding through the other 2: Batgirl's Leclerc, or Bruce Lee's T99

I was playing the tanks a bit on Alabino, and they are all pretty similar just to drive around and shoot, stock.

    Credits aren't a problem.

Yes, yes, I know what you are thinking: "Lenticulas you silly person, why don't you just buy the lot" well I don't know, but I have LOADS of tanks and I just can't play all the ones i have at the moment ... Oh You are probably right.

  12. 2 hours ago, itzjustrick said:

Hmm for glops you said right? I wouldn't take such a slow beast as the chally 2 then...

The Chally I, I have played in glops, and it is SO slow, it's "OMG rip my hair out this is boring slow" - and I really like fast vehicles ... But, but, but... when I eventually get to the cap point in the Chally, it gets captured, and 62 tons of immovable British steel means it usually stays captured. So weirdly, I've done really well in glops with it.?!?!?! - so i don't know.

maybe are there some really bad ones to avoid? and ill randomly pick one of ther others?

i don't know anything about heroics. so i can't comment.

  13. 1 hour ago, itzjustrick said:

Imo get the Leclerc ASAP if you want to have a good time. By far the best progression t9 mbt. Furthermore it's also very heroics capable, I did my first heroics runs in this...

errr welll that's unfortunately the one farthest away from my fingers, at the moment :-(
... I can have the Chally 2 right this second... hmmm

BUT of course, it does unlock the super-breechblock upgrade ... somehow.

  14. I am thinking about getting a progression T9 MBT for Glops.

At the moment, I have an unlock token from the Al Hussein, M1128, and the VBR, which if I've got it right, gets me:

    • Chally 2 (I like the Chally I)
    • T90-MS
    • LEO 2A6 (heard good things about this)
    • Abrams M1A2C

the others theoretically within reach, but definitely not right this second, are:

    • Type 99a (I'm halfway through theT99)
    • Leclerc (I'm about 15% into the VCAC, but still, it's somewhat on the table)

I don't have anything realistically within reach, from the Israeli line at all, or US line to get me the TTB

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

Well, no. This problem actually concerns all newly introduced vehicles, be it premium, progression or obtainable otherwise.... (eg. being powercreeped)..... . Another problem that compounds the issue is that the "credit printer" argument.... No longer applies

To start, thank you for replying, despite my usual torrent of unnecessary cynicism and sarcasm. :-)

Anyway, re: all new vehicles being a bit OP, fair enough. If that's what it takes, and *IF* there's seriously no effective way round it, then... I'm OK with that. As long as the intention is that the OPness is kept at reasonable minimum, ie Chally falcon, rather than Strela.

Remember you'd just have to make new Prems better than normal tanks, not all the other existing premiums

And I was thinking about the credit-printer thing the other day, they eventually became their own downfall. People bought them for the credits, ended up with a ton of credits, and then didn't need to buy more credit-printer Premiums.

If you need to spam loot crates, go for it as far as I'm concerned. I can buy them if I want, and they don't screw over my win rate. Fine.

Make more camos, I bought a load of historical camos, keep it up.

Basically, all I want, is that when I play a Glops match, I get a fair shake of the dice, as to whether I win or not. That's all. And everything else, is a logical extension of that desire.

Just to stop the dumpster fire from starting, keep in mind that official game staff are here on the forum in an unofficial capacity unless they state otherwise. Same goes for anything they say, it would simply be their personal opinion unless they indicate differently.

Think of it as bumping into your landlord or local management at a pub, they are there to chitchat with people and enjoy themselves just like you and I do. Don't grill or harass them, treat them as you would want to be treated yourself.

They can answer or not, or can tag their answer as 'official' or 'just their opinion', whatever they want. I dont intend to harass them - it's just they are the only people i can ask.

    Actually just forget it.

  17. I thought you might like a fair chance say what the actual situation, is rather than me jumping to conclusions, or putting words in your mouth.

So, just to get this absolutely clear, is this: you two, @Silentstalker & @Komitadjie  …..Official representatives of AW/My.com,... are you/are you not saying:

"there's no way we can sell Premiums unless they're OP, it's 'pay-to-win' from now on"?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

re: glops & i suppose pvp as well.
Personally I don't really care if people have pay-to-win vehicles; the problem is, as I'm pretty sure you know, that AW is a zero-sum game.

That is: when one guy in a pay-to-win tank wins, another guy in a normal tank MUST LOSE. There is just no way round it.

So what does this mean to me? Shall I grind hundreds of hours maybe, to get a fantastic Tier 10 Challenger ADTU, and then what?
I don't want to find out that I'll be forced to eat repeated losses, so the Black Eagle/Type 10 owners can have their ... wins at my expense? That doesn't sound like a great gaming experience, sorry.
Someone else's paid-for-fun, becomes them paying for me to not have fun..

And also: where does this leave people who bought old-style premiums with real life money: A Challenger Fionn/Wiesel HOT wolf?
now (their skinned progression style) Premiums are just Second Class? They paid real money for those.

And to a similar, but lesser extent: battle-hardened vehicles.

Just out of curiosity. Let's assume that it won't be the case and the Stalker will be perfectly balanced. Which is something elite PvP players (aka 1-5 percent of playerbase, depending on what metrics you use) will appreciate, but for everyone else, it will be more like "meh why bother, we already better vehicles in the game."

How will you make it attractive to other players?

I thought, a long long time ago, the idea of AW premium vehicles was they wouldn't be OP or anything like that, but they'd just be like a regular progression vehicle, but since it was a Premium, it would shower the owner with Credits. Like the terminator sapphire or whatever.

Of course the premium tanks at that time pretty much were all actual progression vehicles, plus a few others. That was one of the things that I thought was a really good idea: you could get an advantage out of a Premium, without anyone screaming "pay to win".

Now the situation seems to have changed a bit, am I right? I can see with the newest crop of Premiums, even if they are sometimes also available through the BP, they do tend to be OP. I only have to look at the results screen of an average glops match, to see all the Prems occupying the top positions.

I'm not denying those Prems might have very talented players in them, but the best players aren't stupid, and they won't be picking tanks because they are terrible vehicles that you can't win with. And also some of the top players I've seen have a couple of Billion credits, so they aren't in a Prem for the money.

Addressing power creep as you are doing now, that's a good thing, you only need to do that, because it becomes a problem... You know you're going to end up in the same situation.... Right?

    Anyway, enough from me.

PS. Oh and this Stalker, its special feature... It's not going to be... "Silent" is it ;->
