GLOPS Tips and tricks

Recommended Posts

Priority number 1

Cap and hold caps ! GLOPS is all about cap control. Winning GLOPS by pure damage alone happens very seldom.

Everybody should cap, doesnt matter if you play afv, td, lights or arty. Get your ass on the caps, cap it and then move away to a position where you can help defending caps or provide support to the guys that try to cap. Dont be that guy on in the top right corner sniping random targets the whole match and ignoring the caps.

Other stuff :

Only go for wild cards if you are near them. Dont spend a minute or two driving to a bunker wildcard and then 20 seconds extra to cap it. Thats valuable time doing damage wasted or capping.

Airstrikes/airplane wildcard are the exception, get them yourself or deny the other team the chance to use them.

For maximum payout in money and experience :

Go for caps, cap and hold them

Use commanders with high spotting range

Put binoculars on your mbt.

Track those you cant penetrate.

That will give you extra exp, money and victory points for capping, spotting and damage dealing. And you usually will be among the top 5.

Beware going hard for caps will put you in harms way. Learn to always have you front towards those that can hurt you the most. Learn the weakspots on other tanks. Facehugging an mbt with your mbt and theres other enemy vehicles arround? Then shot at soft targets that can move and hit you in the sides or back. If you are lucky the mbt your facehugging dont know where to shoot you.

Very good hints. I would say that is very useful also to defend the caps, as it can happens that the party caps then everybody goes away and the enemies come and cap it themselves very easily. So if you cap you should in many situations defend what you have just got, in a squishy fast vehicle it does probably mean to find a position near by where you can spot the enemies as they approach and if you can snipe at the cap to defend it yourself even better, in a MBT possibly it does not mean to sit in it, but to find a good position that let you defend it while you are hull down. To cap is the way to win, but only if then you are able to defend those caps. Also tanks that can spot and carry a mortar squad have great potential in defending the cap as the indirect fire of the mortar does not do big damage, the AT squad is much more damaging, but if you are able to spot it can do indirect shots that will not kill fast the enemy tanks but at least delay him from capping, even if he is completely hulldown and you can not do him damage yourself.

  • Look at the Points Bar at the top of the screen, and when the bar goes less than about 5mm away from one of the little black lines, (where the caps change), abandon the present caps and make your way to the next ones. You have to be careful to time this right!
Then, when the zones change you are already capping them, from the very first second.

  • When the caps change, and you are fighting in an area where the caps have disappeared, stop fighting and just go away.
If you stay there and kill some low-HP enemy, all you are doing is giving him a free ride back to the base, potentially being nearer to the new caps, and you are giving him back all his HP/ammo. If you have ever tried to cross Barren Divide in a Challenger I, it feels like about 3 frigging hours, and all that time you are out of the fight.

  • If you drive into a cap circle at the start of the match make sure you take it - don't mostly take it, and then tanks start wandering off the cap and the timer goes up again, Make damn sure you get it, then leave.

  • Don't worry about getting killed - this isn't PvP. Dying doing something useful, is totally worth it.

Cap=Win

p.s. thanks @Norse_Viking, @BumbaX really good tips :-)

Also, if the game is really close near the end, be careful not to die.

For example, your team is either winning, on points and you just have to hold on. Or it is looking like your are going to overtake the enemy right at the end, because you have 2 caps, and the enemy has one, and they have less than double your points left. i.e. you have 200 points & 2 caps and they have 300 points and one cap.

At this point, if you are in a squishy vehicle, be VERY careful not to get killed: deny the red team those extra 25 points. Up to the point of just hiding. A few matches have gone either way, depending on a few kills in the very last seconds.
