I was wondering why this moron in a T14 was sniping from spawn and basically did nothing all game, made sense once the game was over

(found him again hours later, and he's only firing atgms with the T-14...)

    ScreenShot0172.jpg

    Thats truly frightening...

He's played glops for 1600 games?! At 10 mins a game that's 260 frigging hours. And if we assume that people are bad when they start, and then get better, how terrible must he have been to only now, have got his average UP TO 42%.

OK this is simply not possible... or I hope this is not humanly possible. I think someone must have botted this account up to where it had loads of high level tanks, and the human bought it. And he's probably a regular on my teams judging by the last 2 days.

  2. I think this should be filed under "non-problems that don't need fixing". Has anyone ever complained that bushes and fallen trees don't stack?

I know that Dev. depts have to be kept occupied, but there's a point that's reached in lots of online games, where they are just fiddling with it for no actual reason. And it opens up the possibility that super ace pvpers will find a way of min-Maxing this to their advantage, and to the disadvantage of the rest of us. But my glass is half empty.

Skins are possible, but I haven't had much luck in modifying them yet because I can't figure out how to merge the mipmaps back together.

@Sebastian_Grimm might know more about this.

I seem to remember, when you make the largest map texture for something, you can save it as a dds (using a Photoshop plug-in for example), you can tick a box, and it will generate all the smaller resolution (mip)maps for you, in the .dds file. Without you doing anything.

Although it's been a long time.:-)

  4. "Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
    In the forests of the night;
    What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful 4-shot Autoloader?"

    This thing is superb.

    Armour
    - Not much, but the turret will stop AC fire, and you may get the occasional lucky bounce.
Your main protection is the other guy being dead, because you just clipped him out. That and speed and bushes.

    Spotting/camo
    + Reasonable Range
    + Reasonable camo
+ No camo penalty while moving.

    Armament
+++ AMAZING burst damage. I want this gun on every tank.
+ Very good gun depression, via suspension, I haven't met a ridge line I couldn't peek over.
+ Ready rack loads quickly. 5 sec per shot, is faster than many tanks' normal reload.
    - Not good for swapping ammo types, since you have to empty the whole rack, and reload from scratch. Or carefully watch and swap when it's naturally empty. - Don't bother, just blam AP.
    - No anti-infantry Machine gun. So you will have trouble with infantry, and having thin armour, an AT Squad can do you serious damage.

    Speed
    - Accelerates slowly (fit Top Speed ability, and get good acceleration!)
+ easy to manoeuvre around objects/reverse out of trouble
+ good top speed when you get there

    Troops
    - none

    Misc
I haven't bothered with the Rapid Fire ability: I can dump the rack in under 5 seconds, and I don't think doing this any faster, gets you much benefit in the real world.

    To explain:
For this ability to make a difference, the faster rack dump would have to prevent them from shooting you more. Whatever happens, they are probably going to shoot you once. That means their tank must already have a sub-4.5 second rate of fire, to stand a chance of a second shot. Maybe this applies to... another Harimau, Centauro 120?, or one of those AA machine-cannons: GAU-8 Avenger, Griffin. Most vehicles get one shot and then go back to the garage/respawn point. Of course Rapid Fire also ruins your accuracy, so you may well miss a shot.

    Upgrade possiblities
+ you don't have to buy both ultimate loading upgrades, so you get the best one first, without having to bother with the other.
+ AP ammo works fine from stock

    Commander
Anything with damage, camo, whatever. I actually have been using Rashid the missile guy, since I'm grinding him, and the only relevant skills he has are: Less Camo Penalty while Firing, and some module damage, and he works just fine.

    Other
Everything here is mostly in regard to Glops. Works fine in pve too. Haven't tried it in pvp.

I finished it after 60 Glops matches with 61.7% - I'll take that any day of the week.

    Crazy fun: 9/10
    Effectiveness: 9/10

I'd *super* doubt that's handled user-end.  That kind of thing is going to be handled server-side for sure.  There's zero reason that would need to be done on the user's PC, and would just be asking for all kinds of abuse.

Thats what I suspected, I was just trying to type some stuff in on the WIKI and i can't see the Credit costs of the modules for the tanks ... because I've already bought them/or i havent XPd them.

  6. Also, if the game is really close near the end, be careful not to die.

For example, your team is either winning, on points and you just have to hold on. Or it is looking like your are going to overtake the enemy right at the end, because you have 2 caps, and the enemy has one, and they have less than double your points left. i.e. you have 200 points & 2 caps and they have 300 points and one cap.

At this point, if you are in a squishy vehicle, be VERY careful not to get killed: deny the red team those extra 25 points. Up to the point of just hiding. A few matches have gone either way, depending on a few kills in the very last seconds.

  7. One of my main mistakes is not being able to accept that most (Glops) losses are not due to people playing badly, or well, or me playing badly, or well, but due to other random garbage that forces me to take a loss, or a win for.

    • the MM not making skill balanced matches.
    • One team getting all the m8 Strelas, and raping everything
    • All the idiots uninterested in capping being put on one team.
    • Afkers,
    • team killer banning, making my team 9 vs 10
    • base-campers,
    • disconnections.

All this meaningless crap has more effect on the outcome of games than actual good play, and it makes me annoyed. And this feeds into stupid gameplay, on my part.

  8. Ok, a really stupid question:

this 'click x' Suspension locking thing.

If 'unlocked' enables the extra-fancy suspension mode, for extra gun depression, supposedly like an Altay (i think), OK that's great.

Then what's the point of locking it? ... I suppose you could lock it forward and drive around with the top plate a bit more angled forward . ... although with the Hari's 'armour', I'm not sure if this is useful at all?

PS. the Hari is an absolutely excellent vehicle for Glops.

  9. Tiers.. anything I can play Glops in , so about 6-9 (yes, yes, T5 is theoretically possible , but I give up every time and play higher, since the wait is painful. That and you are guaranteed to be bottom tier...)

On T10 I have the Armata T15, Sphinx, Type99a2, and only the sphinx does any good

Pity you can't play Glops in some of the T4 vehicles too.

At the moment I'm grinding LeClerc proto(in pve), Harimau, and that frigging awful rot-box, the Sprut.

My go-to, fun vehicles: VBL Ingwe, Wiesel HOT, and the wonderful Crab. Oh crabby, you are the best, :classic_love:

... everyone will put holes in your paper armor because I love this tank,  run and gun.  Fun tank,  but its handling is not enough to offset the garbage armor..

Yeah it's nice and fast, maneuverable etc., but the problem is that big flat bit of the front hull, below the upper front plate, with the words: "Shoot Me Here" written on it, in big red letters.
I'm just trying to get through it, to get my hands on a VCAC Mephisto.

Yes, that is the easy way, LAV130, camo Commander, spotting retros and try to focus on the already damaged enemies, i did run out of ammo a couple of times not doing it, and to understand who is the human in the other party. You basically have to steal kills from your own bot allies.

With a little luck you get it in few tries, sometimes the first one.

I did it (luckily) on the 4th attempt, in Pt-85 + cheap electro paint 1 and Active thermal Camera (for seeing through bushes). + Ioannis (camo & damage - my regular TD commander).
The times I failed, were when there was another human on my team, and he/she and the bots killed too many, or I messed it up. I can imagine it taking a long time, if you don't get the luck. It was very quickly down to 3 in our side, vs. 5 on the other, and I'd killed 2, so I could only just do it.

EDIT: the cheesy way that helps a lot is to be in vocal chat with a friend, to go in queue at the same exact time, but not platooned. Often you find yourselves as opponents

    Excellent! now that IS cheeeeesy.

  12. I couldn't not post this. The worst abortion of a 10x10 glops game i have experienced.

Usual wtf are they doing, glops-Narrows idiocy, but it's half of the frigging team this time. Again after about 2 minutes.
.... at the end I drove face-first up to a concrete bunker in my vbl, and started shooting missiles into it at point blank range,
    to try and kill myself.

Only 2 players including me got any cap points at all.
A platoon of our 2x T8 Marders came dead last. The Swingfire ... well the Swing's shit in glops, so i guess he has an excuse.
I wanted to weep blood by the end of it.
    Just shoot me now.

    EDIT:Well ... if we're naming n shaming ... ;->   :

    Spoiler

    the T8 Marder platoon was:
    [lesFR]FATBOYS
    [lesFR]nico40a

  13. Survival of the fittest - anyone know how to get a Survival of the Fittest (pvp) medal?

OK: i found out: In PvP, kill 7 (you or your platoon combined) without dying yourself or losing any platoon members.

FYI: I did it, solo PvP Tier 1, against mostly bots. 10 vs. 10
    - although it depends on none of the bots on your team, taking anyone with them when they get killed.

  14. EDIT: I just did some testing on Alabino.

    I have learned:

It IS a circle, and it designates vehicles in front, to the side, and directly behind you. Range anything less than 150m (with the upgrade)
The gun direction made no difference.

You can start designating vehicles that then leave direct line of sight, but if they become invisible again while you are starting to designate them, the effect never completes.

I can't test it with vehicles spotted by other people (and not me)
The icon is greyed out if **I** am going 10kmh+.

if i fully designate targets, and then start moving, the effect remains in action.

  15. Armour
    - Not much, but hey it's an afv.

    Spotting/camo
+ Good Range + extra bonus while stopped
+ Good camo + extra bonus while stopped

    Missiles
++ They hit HARD. Usually 900-1000 dam. Controllable too. Fast firing.
    - Long reload, so it's a good thing the AC works.
+/- Only 2 missiles means super-good alpha, unfortunately if you encounter lots of APS, the first always misses, and that's half your damage gone.

    Gun
+ 200mm pen will go through most non-MBT things, (and actually the lower front plate of a T80-U, T7 mbt)
    - Sounds underwhelming
    - Just under 50 dam per shot is a bit limp, but OK for finishing things off/tracking, just not main armament.
+ Good sized clip, so AC reload is rarely a problem.
+ reasonable gun depression/ridiculously good elevation (for shooting glops spotter drones)

    Speed
    - A bit slow for an afv, although top speed is OK once you get there

    Troops
+ Always good to have these

    Misc
++ Since it's a premium, it craps money.
    ++ A FREE (kind of), T7 Premium!

    Upgrade possiblities
    - - Your upgrade options are:
    YOU CAN'T.
    - they are frigging well locked behind mission completion targets, so you can't even use free-xp just to get the engine or something (bloody annoying). AND it looks like you don't get to choose the order of upgrades either.

+ It's definitely playable stock, and you get the best ammo/missiles from the start.

    Other
    I can't compare it to the BWP-2k 'cos I haven't got one.
Everything here is mostly in regard to glops, it seems to work ok in pve. I haven't tried it in pvp
A bit like a Swingfire with an AC (although that's never going to sell it to anyone)

  16. Killing vs. Capping ... what gets you most points?

Because ... whoever scores the most points wins, right?
Roy: "Very good Pris, now show him why."

Points you get from Killing Tanks
Killing a red tank scores 25 points.

On average, the winning team kills about 15 more tanks than the losing team, let's be generous and say it's 20
    so they get + 20x25 = +500 points

+500 more points than the enemy, for the whole match. (remember this number)

    Points you get from Capping
If you hold a cap zone, the enemy loses points, every 3 seconds.
The more cap zones you hold, the more points they lose, per second.

AND, as the game goes on, you get EVEN MORE more points per 3 seconds, in the 3 phases of the game.
    Something like this:

    • 5 points per cap, every 3 seconds, in the first phase
      - caps change location -
    • 7 points per cap, every 3 seconds, in the second phase
      - caps change location again -
    • 9 points per cap, every 3 seconds, in the third and final phase

NOTE: The numbers of points varies (I think), from map to map; as does the number of caps, so the figures are approximate.

"Well how many points, in total is that? ", you ask

If the map has 3 caps in each phase, &
If we say it takes 1 minute to arrive at a cap zone, and capture it,
therefore: all the caps are held for 4 minutes, in a 15 minute match.

    First phase: 3 caps x 4 minutes x 5 points x 1/3 seconds = 1200 points
    Second phase: 3 caps x 4 minutes x 7 points x 1/3 seconds = 1680 points
    Third phase: 3 caps x 4 minutes x 9 points x 1/3 seconds = 2160 points

    That's potentially 5040 points!!

    A more realistic scenario:
is your team gets cap 1, the enemy gets cap 2, and you fight over number 3.
so really you are only going to get +1 cap more than the enemy, if you see what I mean.

    So:
if you hold +1 Cap more than the enemy, for all phases of the match, you get + 5040/3 more than the red team.
    = +1680 points.

Kill:   +500 pts         <-- this number is small
Cap:   +1680 pts     <-- this number is way bigger!

Over 3x the points of killing, AND anyway, the team that caps most, ALSO usually gets the most kills!

[tl:dr] Or to put it another way ...
The points advantage you get, for killing all the tanks in the ENTIRE MATCH (+500),
That 500pts can be wiped out, by just ONE guy, in an AFV, sneaking into ONE cap zone,
and taking it, and no one bothering to get it back, for about 3 minutes.

PS. If I've messed up the maths, please tell me and I'll sneakily change it, and then deny it was wrong in the first place :-)

Repel the most damage on your team,  at least 10 hits and 1000+ damage. Any MBTs with some degree of effective armor will work fine, just drive forward and get shot at. Try your hardest to not get destroyed, because the counter resets once you do. Easy to farm if you sit in front of an autocannon and let it plink away at you for as long as you want.

If you want to scam your way through this one, if you are 'lucky' enough to have a Challenger I (or a decent Merkava i would imagine)- this works every single time. Point Chally towards the enemy, get shot at. Try and find a BMP to shoot at you, and don't kill him. really easy on that mission on the runway/ghostfield. If you have an MBT with a crappy front plate (russian/french/whatever), wait until a low bot-vehicle is killed, park behind that, bounce your turret to victory.

    image.png.ed9b53d76a21bf3f20372ff1886b64d0.png

If you want to scam your way through this one, or just need one guaranteed success to complete it:
quite often, a Glops game, especially at mid tiers, or at stupid times of the day, will ONLY have 10/ team - so that's not too difficult :-)
Or if you pick Tier 1-2, PvP late at night, it will be you, a human, on one team + 14 bots, vs. one other human on the other team + 14 bots.
Pretty much guaranteed succes, even if you are really drunk. And you don't even have to win.

    -------------------------------------------------------
ALSO: Since damage scales with tier, always take your highest Tier tank to do damage-related missions.
Some damage-type mission are impossible at, say tier 2, but are guaranteed success every time at High tiers.

Anything that involes support/tracking/damage/kills, Ramkas are really good.
