  1. Something is definitely fuckie - this is the Leo 2ax standard AP round.  It can pen 1364mm of armor as it's shooting into the grills, but if you move down 1mm or so, it can no longer pen 1200mm.

My current thoughts are that for some reason, it rear half of the tank is showing as steel, but has the make up of something else as it's counting the grills as the make up of the rear half of the tank.

Tier 8 Leo (please ignore queue timer)

But if you increase the angle you lose protection?

Can't post further picture atm but all tanks have like a 3 stage of armor (Armor map) thickest at the front sections, going to weakest at the back, but none of them have such a dramatic loss of protection.  I can only assume that there is an armor 'map' from the back that takes whatever the grills are made of (aluminium?) and the puts that entire section as that same thing.  While it shows as steel, it's not acting like it should!  The tier 8 merk has the same thickness armor as the leo, but doesn't get penned!

From my ST experience with WG, the biggest reason why it is preferred for testers and devs to speak the same language is the language barrier. Just as EN devs don't want to deal with torrents of French or German feedback during testing, RU devs don't want to deal with a language they aren't familiar with. It's a major hassle to translate feedback as they trickle in, and there's also the subconscious bias of trusting people who speak the same language more than those who don't.

Also remember that tester groups have to be somewhat representative of the entire playerbase in terms of skill, experience and interests. Stacking the group with highly skilled and experienced testers will result in very high-level feedback, but not necessarily representative of the much larger, less experienced portion of the playerbase. The testers may absolutely adore vehicles with low skill floor and high skill ceiling, but they may end up being way to difficult for your average pubbie to perform decently in.

True I suppose.  It's annoying that we can't offer more over the super test stuff, only when it comes out and we point out issues with things that could have been spotted before, but that's the way of it - understand the reasoning behind it

  3. So what do we know so far:

    Setting - Post apocalyptic / Russian tanks - image.png.70ba2c6849dcbd6aec2121373b887e8c.png

One confirmed tank - Kurganet-25 - https://aw.my.games/en/news/general/development-kurganets-25 .  This will be a mini T-15, in TD role, 4 'main' ATGMs similar to the BMPT Mod.2000 (I'm aware article says 2, image shows 4 and SS confirmed there was a mistake - suspected in article), Bulat ATGMs (small 8x set) which are thermobaric &  a 57mm short auto cannon.  Can deploy infantry or use Super ASP.  I Imagine this will enable the tank to get around behind targets, nuke the feck out of them and then scoot away (shoot and scoot) given the removal of rear armor from MBT's.  I could imagine this thing being a powerhouse in Heroics.

The speculation is this isn't the main reward tank, but the 'purchasable' one - As previous BP's have had loot boxes, it was guessed this would be the lootbox tank, however SS has confirmed there are NO lootboxs for this one.  We have no idea the cost of this tank (re: BP coins) but guesses are 40k+

    image.thumb.png.8c450ec6871e51c86530b69f8778e9da.png

We've been told that the BP will be the same as Enigma Legacy - so expect the same level of grind, missions & style of play - that is to say, use the BP tanks to achieve the missions.  It's stated as lasting 3 months so I suspect the same 90 day time limit.

So far I believe this is all that is confirmed.

Speculation - I think the Object 195 has been bounced around before as a different 152mm Russian MBT so perhaps this could be the top reward?  There was news about this being brought in as a progression tank in 2017, but nothing further was done about it.  I remember a mod in official saying something about it recently, but then advising that they just got their numbers mixed up and meant the 490 so who knows!

    News about object 195: https://aw.my.games/en/news/general/development-object-195

We also know that SS was talking about a premium SPG during his livestream coverage of the Russian Military Parade but it's not clear when this would be or what form it would take.  From general play style of the game, it would be very unusual for a BP reward tank to be an SPG as this would effectively lock it out of grinding any missions in PvP.

One of the main features of Update 0.34 will be the new Echoes of War apocalypse-themed Battle Path and today we’d like to tell you more about it.

Mechanics-wise, the Echoes of War Battle Path will be similar to Enigma’s Legacy with the principles being roughly the same. Once you acquire access to the campaign (the price remains the same), you’ll be earning Battle Coins and spending them on Battle Path progress. Battle Coins will be earned either by just playing or by completing missions. Four mission sets along with repeatable daily Battle Coin Missions and Challenges will be available like the last time.

Completing all three mission sets will unlock the fourth, ultimate mission set. Once again, the campaign will feature several Premium vehicles available as a part of the campaign’s basic level progress. However, this is where things started to differ from the previous Battle Paths.

The prize vehicles obtainable via Battle Path levels will be:

    Reward Vehicles (Click to Open)

As you can see, the initial vehicle will no longer be obtainable merely for unlocking the Battle Path, but on the bright side, the vehicles featured in this Battle Path are mostly high-Tier Premium ones, significantly increasing the total value of the prizes obtainable. To reflect that, the progression cost per level above Level 10 will increase slightly from 4.000 to 4.500 Battle Coins.

Another change compared to the previous one is that while each of these Battle Path vehicles do comes with a special apocalypse-themed skin called Vagabond, these will now be obtainable via standard level progression alongside the tanks instead of being locked behind various Missions. That way, they will become easily obtainable.

    vagabond

    Vagabond Shilka (Work in Progress)

Let’s talk about the Mission Chains because those underwent a lot of changes as well. For one, like we mentioned above, Missions will no longer award skins. Instead, the top prize for each chain will be a special Battle Path camouflage called Biohazard (one environment per chain). As for the missions themselves:

    • We have removed the unpopular support-based and kill-based missions, leaving damage only
    • Missions no longer require Battle Path vehicles to participate in them
    • Each chain was reduced to 6 missions
    • Chains are now class-based (one requires Tier 3-10 MBTs, one requires Tier 3-10 AFVs and one requires Tier 3-10 TDs or SPGs)
    • The final, Elite chain consists of 5 missions, each dropping blueprints of the Kurganets-25 Tier 9 Premium TD

This vehicle brings us to the final and the most radical innovation of the Battle Path. In the earlier Battle Path iterations, we always had one vehicle reserved for Battle Path Loot Crates. Players had to buy these Loot Crates for Battle Coins and gradually assemble the vehicle.

    camo3

    Biohazard Camouflage, Forest

This Battle Path, we are removing these Loot Crates altogether. Instead, we’ll have a brand new Battle Path section called Shop.

    camo

    Biohazard Camouflage, Desert

The Shop is pretty much exactly what it sounds like – a page where you can choose one of five items available and purchase them directly for Battle Coins. The items on offer are periodically renewed so every single offer set is available for a limited time only. Additionally, a manual re-roll will be available for 300 Battle Coins.

    camo2

    Biohazard Camouflage, Winter

On the other hand, they do give you the opportunity to obtain items as:

    • Kurganets-25 parts
    • Credits
    • Boosters
    • Premium Time
    • Premium vehicles (including Tier 10 ones and those from the previous Battle Paths)
    • Commanders (including Ophelia Kitescu and Alisa Korhonen)

As well as bonus Battle Coins (which can then be used for rerolls). The Kurganets-25 TD can be assembled using the parts you purchase in the Shop.

    screen1

    Kurganets-25

The Workshop will also be making a comeback, allowing you to further improve your prize vehicles by completing Battle Path missions or Challenges. You can also use the Workshop to upgrade the older Last Patriot and Enigma's Legacy Battle Path vehicles.

Other than that, the mechanics will remain the same, as will the entry price. Apart from the abovementioned Premium vehicles, the Battle Path levels will contain other rewards such as Battle Coin boosters, decals, Gold, boosters and much more. Of particular note is the avatar that you can get early on, but it gradually changes its appearance based on your progression. The existing mechanics will be described in detail in the FAQ section upon the Battle Path’s launch.

We hope that you will enjoy this Battle Path that is due to launch at the beginning of December and, as always:

I recall some my extra settings

    In-game settings

    • FPS cap - 120 (this is how much frames you want AW to produce, between 50% and 100 % of additional frames makes video more fluid even if you won't see them mostly)
    • V-Sync - yes (less flickering)

    nVidia settings

    • Max refresh rate - 60 Hz (this is compatible with my monitor)
    • Low Latency  - Ultra (You can pick between this and just Enable, but Ultra seems very nice)
    • Vertical Sync - Fast (trade between some minimal flickering and lesser waiting of rendering of next frame)

These seemed to have helped me out - the Low Latency specifically - changed that and next match seemed VERY smooth.  I'm sure it's unrelated, but my ping was 30 higher

Don't count on it. The last BP having specific vehicle requirements was a planned marketing move to promote the new vehicles, even if the execution was horribly grindy. Maybe this time they won't make it so grindy?

I suspect that this BP will be around 10% more grind than last time.  My worry is, Devs will see how much money they make and make it that much harder to complete than last time.  Plus with all the BP boosters you get, it means doing them more means you have more ability to grind so can 'afford' to grind more.  The one thing they don't take into account is time...While They keep increasing the levels it'll require, they keep the length around the same until 1 day you need be Eskobar on a top 100 event - play 18 hours a day, every day for the duration to get the top rewards

HE changes were intended for the initial 0.33 rebalance too originally, but we didn't get them to work on time. Right now they are being tested I think (as in, several variants, not PTS level), so maybe nothing will come of it.

Is it possible that there can be a 2nd set of testers for this?  Afaik there are only Russian super testers, which sure we can join, but have to speak Russian to do so.  Might be a good idea to have some more players testing this out across the board?

    Yes

And sorry for the offtopic Haswell. I hate it myself, it's not nice of me to derail existing threads.

Do...do we need another T-15 powerhouse?  I mean, it may be lightly armored but I'm imagining it's quicker so that could cause havoc in the right hands.  Also aren't these classes of tanks quite hard to balance?  I'm thinking along the lines of termi and t-15 I think you've said previously they were.

Or is it more like the hunter - nuke and run :D

  8. From a further look at the renders - sides are covered with large ERA blocks?  So now comes the question, is this actual ERA like the Russians / Americans have or is it composite slabs that the rest of the lines have?  Cos if it's the former, will make it pretty decently armored vs HEAT / ATGMs.  If it's the latter, then everything will pen that like a knife through butter.

I think it could be fun to drive around - next question is...has it been confirmed how this one is obtained?  Loot boxes, contract mission or general premium?

  9. As strange as this sounds, I think I'm finding this raid slightly easier - not sure if it's because I'm going for the pvp missions rather than pve or what, but I have completed 28 missions so far.

Could be that I've gotten better so it's easier to farm, or generally tanks have improved so it's easier to get the damage required or what...but certainly I feel I've made more progress in the week it's been up than I did with the first one!  Perhaps it's just easier requirements (like less tier 3-6 AFV with 80% damaging shots)

  10. Just wondering about this - https://aw.my.games/en/news/general/development-upcoming-shell-changes

Theredqueen posted a small extract from it and it got me thinking - over match mechanics have been in the game a while, since .21, and now armor make up and amount has changed.  Is it a case where an old mechanic is now fucking over the latest changes?  Side of MBT's is now thin steel so maybe it is working as the system thinks it should be, but it's not working as actually intended?

  11. Part of me thinks there won't be a change to HE mechanics coming, however with .33 PTS stage 1 SS did mention something about 'Oh maybe the HE changes got put in, they shouldn't be there' type thing...

If they did change HE to be more damaging to components / crew on non-penning shots, then it could take the place of PISH / HESH as this is what it's designed to do - flatten on armor, exploded, but not penning, but spraying the inside of the tank with shrapnel from the tanks internal armor.

Mmm.  Strange this this happened at the same time as the T-15 & Sphinx HE auto cannon shells got whacked out of the game / because Epic tier because they are purple...

  12. 33 minutes ago, Silentstalker said:

If you expect radical changes, I am afraid you'll be disappointed.

You mean no 37 map campaigns with 99 new tanks and 47 new mechanics?  I am disappointed...

But seriously, I'd like some more tank lines as premiums are...a little stale for me.  A new line gives longer term players something to aim for and unlock / learn.  Having 5 new premium MBTs / AFVs that do the same role as the 20 others of the tier, is a little bit boring for me.  I appreciate that as a company you need to make money (through premiums for example) but eventually if all you do is release those, players will be turned away

  13. 1 hour ago, Silentstalker said:

Simple. This was the original intention but it slipped through the cracks when the plans were drafted. Happens when a few people deal with a lot of things. Ironically, you should be happy - most funding goes to the actual development of the game, not a massively bloated operator infrastructure some other companies have, or lavish corporate parties.

Yea...but it would be nice if there were more staff sin general o the game could be developed more and in interesting ways...like more PvE content..and new tank lines more frequently that aren't premiums :)

The Abrams skin looks decent too. I don't like skin animations mostly but it's hard to tell without having them tested yourself during a battle or two. But compared to the last raid this is surely a huge step up, even if some people will be absolutely disgusted by those.

IIRC SS mentioned on Discord that they shouldn't have a noticeable impact on performance. If they do you should get a new processing potato. But  we have to see. It's what I feared the most when I saw the Doom Lelkek :winkseal:

Ahh yes...it shouldn't tank FPS...like the drones in MC chapter 4 shouldn't...or deploying infantry...or auto cannon spamming from multiple tanks...yet they all do.

Perfectly optimised, like all things should be.

In b4 playing one of these tanks kills Has' laptop

  15. I'm getting the sense that they didn't reduce side armor...they entirely fucked the armor mechanics.  Not even in the nice "buy you dinner first" this is taking it down a dark ally and smacking it with a pipe around the back of the head while it wasn't looking.

Out of interest, have you checked if this mechanic also effects the t-14?  I've noticed that the AS21 can't pen it on the side like it can on all the other MBTs of that tier, so I'm wondering if they left all other tanks borked, but made sure armor is correct on the Russian lines.
