  1. What sort of feedback has been acquired on the Perihelion rewards so far?

How has player sentiment been across the raids held so far? Was the last one considered a success?

I understand there was a 54 for/46 against vote for the Perihelion plot for EU/NA, while the Russian side had roughly the opposite vote. Are there any details as to what factors resulted in the for/against votes?

  2. What don't you like at all?

    Quote

    Frequent undocumented changes
Lack of information from development team
Known issues are either not acknowledged or never fixed (main battle tanks with limited coaxial machine gun elevation for no reason)
Feedback is never acknowledged or taken seriously unless you're an obnoxious rivet counter with literally nothing more important in your life than annoying the content manager
Community manager Maciek spends more time reposting photographs from r/TankPorn on Armored Warfare's social media channels than actually managing the community
Monetization strategy is simultaneously predatory and nonsensical (realistic skins from past limited time events or campaigns rarely go on sale, if ever, to name one; yet extremely expensive lootboxes are commonly sold)
Extremely linear map design in newer Player vs Environment missions that make MBTs the only viable class with the sole exception of the BMPTs and T-15; especially pronounced in Special Operations
Special Operations maps after American Dream are balanced entirely around the expectation that you will die and respawn at least once, no exceptions
The Special Operations storywriting from Enigma onwards
Special Operations maps after the introduction of mechanized infantry often have infantry on rooftops out of reach of vehicles with bugged coaxial elevation, requiring you to waste a main gun shell when the rest of the map is a DPM race
    ATGM and rocket chip damage
Vehicles are frequently powercrept especially by battlepath premiums, rendering older vehicles or even previous battlepath premiums totally redundant as they are rarely rebalanced to match.
The simplification of gameplay with 0.33 somehow made the above issue worse
Past battlepath rewards other than the reward vehicles and their skins are permanently inaccessible to new players or anyone interested
Even with premium access the battlepath seems to be balanced around having grinding it be the main event of your entire life
Raids are even worse on that aspect despite having worse rewards

Is there anything you like? If yes, what is it?

Subject matter is still interesting despite the derail into bad sci-fi and subsequently bad postapocalyptic fiction
Realistic/"historic" vehicle skins were clearly made by people who took pride in what they were doing
Core gameplay loop is still enjoyable most of the time
Content Manager SilentStalker, who manages double duty as community manager for the English-speaking player demographic despite that not actually being his role. Give him a raise.

Please share any ideas about further development of the game. The team will analyze all pieces of feedback.

Revisit existing vehicles whenever new vehicles are introduced. In particular, new premium vehicles should not be best-in-tier upgrades over existing vehicles.
The issue with autocannons generating overly intensive particle effects that slow computers can be mitigated by reducing their rates of fire while increasing damage per shot.
The Perihelion story and campaign design is worth pursuing, and reimplementing the web tracker functionality the original EU/NA Storyline Campaign had should be explored if it continues.
Limited time game events like battlepaths and raids should not be balanced around being the only leisure activity the player has. I skipped the last battlepath as the grind was simply too much.
Larger and less linear maps should be considered going forwards, especially if Special Operations are continued.
PvE maps should be less flooded with high DPM enemy vehicles like light tanks and armored fighting vehicles
Add a first person aiming mode to artillery if the only high-arc shells they are going to retain going forwards are WP shells

No idea what this is supposed to mean:

  3. It's a limitation of the game's camo texture system - it's actually pretty bad at making macropatterns that meaningfully break up the vehicle's outline to the eye, but this is the system Obsidian left us

What you could do is make an overriding skin like the ROK K1A1 on this forum, but it will have the slightly amusing side effect of turning every T-80B into a GSFG example

Huh.  I never played it.  Was it a special map, or did it just re-use something that already exists?

Reuse of the Moscow PvP map, with some visual effects to make it look like it was a virtual simulation in the world of AW. Notably, the hostile vehicle skins glowed, but that was removed some time back.

  5. 4 missions have now become available:

    Live Fire Exercises (GlOps Mission):

    Spoiler

    Commits:

    • 20 men
    • 1 vehicle

The list of current Perihelion assets can be found here.

    Time Frame:

    • Start: October 7, 00:01 CEST
    • End: October 20, 23:59 CEST
    • Game days: 14

    Objectives:

    • Play 48 Global Operations matches using a Storyline Campaign vehicle (+15% difficulty modifier included)

    Special Rules:

    • Driving while Black: In a previous article, you chose dark colors for Perihelion’s vehicles. These, however, are not very suitable for hot environments as they absorb heat and make the crew compartment as well as training extremely uncomfortable, even for the accompanying troops. Added an extra 5% difficulty modifier (already reflected in the requirement above)

    Rewards:

    • Perihelion Grey base paint

Reinforcements (Get the M60 SLEP by October 20)

    Spoiler

    Commits:

The list of current Perihelion assets can be found here.

    Time Frame:

    • Start: October 7, 00:01 CEST
    • End: October 20, 23:59 CEST
    • Game days: 14

    Objectives:

    • Obtain the M60A3 SLEP Main Battle Tank from the Raiders on the Storm event until October 20, 2021, 23:59 CEST (no difficulty modifiers apply to this objective)

    Rewards:

    • 1 Platinum Loot Crate
    • Samuel Thorpe player avatar (Result: Solid Victory or better)
    • M60A3 SLEP becomes a Storyline Campaign vehicle (Result: Major Victory or better)

    Weekend Warrior (Weekend Spec Ops)

    Spoiler

    Commits:

    • 30 men
    • 2 vehicles

The list of current Perihelion assets can be found here.

    Time Frame:

    • Start: October 7, 00:01 CEST
    • End: October 20, 23:59 CEST
    • Game days: 14

    Objectives:

    • Play 50 War Games (that is, old Special Operations and Labyrinth – the modes that are only available on weekends) matches using a Storyline Campaign vehicle (+20% difficulty modifier included)

    • Russian Tech in America: Rural areas of Arizona are inhabited by very conservative people, who don’t like to see Russian vehicles driving around their backyard. The sense of hostility in the air is almost palpable. Water wells mysteriously run dry when you need them, shops are permanently closed for renovation whenever you enter a town and restaurant food comes with a few “extra ingredients.” Added an extra 5% difficulty modifier (already reflected in the requirement above)

    Rewards:

    • Perihelion Sigil decal
    • 1 Platinum Loot Crate

Betrayal (PvP Random Battles, obviously a trap, do not fucking do this)

    Spoiler

    Commits:

    • 70 men
    • 3 vehicles

The list of current Perihelion assets can be found here.

    Time Frame:

    • Start: October 7, 00:01 CEST
    • End: October 20, 23:59 CEST
    • Game days: 14

    Objectives:

    • Play at least 48 battles in the PvP (Random Battles) mode using a Storyline Campaign vehicle while maintaining at least 65% winrate during the mission period (+15% difficulty modifier included)

Please note that playing any additional PvP battles during the period this mission is active (using the Storyline Campaign vehicles) will count towards the winrate goal. If you play 48 battles and win 32 of them (66.6% winrate) and then you lose for example 2 battles before October 20, 23:59 CEST, your result will have counted as having played 50 battles with 64% winrate, therefore failing the mission.

This is a very difficult mission. Before attempting it, make sure you understand the consequences.

    Special Rules:

    • Gamble: You are driving conspicuous Russian vehicles in an area where everyone noticed you already and where the good patriotic people not only do not like corporations and Russians, but also love and support the U.S. Army, all the while most of your troops are American (+25% difficulty modifier, any negative battle results will yield an additional -1 modifier to Morale)
    • Night Assault: The dark colors your vehicles are covered with will now come in handy (-5% difficulty modifier)
    • Codebreaker: Samuel Thorpe is proficient in breaking basic forms of code and is familiar with U.S. Army procedures (-5% difficulty modifier)
    • Smart: During his interview, Samuel Thorpe displayed an affinity for solving complex issues on the fly (Contextual player advice: attempting this mission is very risky and the chance for a negative result is fairly high; this could set you back considerably)

    Reward:

    • 6 Platinum Loot Crates
    • 10 MPF Light Tanks for the Top 10 participants (by winrate)
    • MPF Light Tank becomes a Storyline Campaign vehicle

Oh, and if you, gentle reader, saw the preceding blocks and decided that you want in after not initially joining, there's still a (grindy) way:

    Spoiler

    Objectives:

Complete the objective between October 7, 2021 and November 7, 2021 (23:59 CEST):

    Special Rules:

    • Introduction: This mission does not use the Asset and Morale rules. Simply complete it to see what’s next.

    Rewards:

    • Entering the Storyline Campaign

Desert Viper (September 22, 2035): The NPAA captured a moored aircraft carrier. The ISD sent you to scuttle the ship before it leaves for the open sea.

Yes, a spendo, possibly irreplaceable asset that you'd rather scuttle with a single tank platoon even when said platoon will wipe out the rest of the NPAA presence as a "bonus". Well, wasn't expecting any better scriptwriting after MC1

  7. And how exactly does Battle Hardened status become worth more if T7 premiums still get stuck fighting T-15s in PvE? Honestly, I'd take the current crop of premium skins giving you BH status over this and the transparent camos.

Fuel tank changes: How often does one get set on fire through gas tank hits instead of engine or ammo rack fires anyway? How often is this happening to RU players? How noticeable is the damaged/destroyed gas tank debuff compared to engine damage currently?

Avatar and title implementation on load screens: I really wonder how on earth this is going to fit on screen in a 24 player match of any sort. And barely any acknowledgement that they removed the skin name changes for vehicles in matches alongside the in-match name display changes for no apparent reason.
