BATTLE ROYAL IS COMING TO MY.GAMES MARKET!

DEC 21ST | 2020

Commanders!

Today and today only, MY.GAMES Market will be hosting a special new event called Battle Royal, available via the platform’s portal.

scr1

During this event, you’ll be given the opportunity to purchase special items on offer. The price you pay for the item will count as a bid in an auction for an epic prize. Bid the most and you’ll receive one of these amazing prizes in addition to the special item you purchased:

  • Magach 7A Improved Bundle
  • T-72M2 Wilk Improved Bundle
  • T-72M2 Wilk Prime Bundle
  • K1A1 Military Bundle
  • Marder 2 Tier 8 Premium AFV
  • Sentinel Skin Bundle
  • CATTB Loot Crate
  • Object 640 Loot Crate

The way it works is simple – much like an auction. The event is available periodically. With each round of this event, players can purchase an item (which they will always receive) and use its price as an entry into a bidding contest for the main prize (listed above). With each player purchase, the price of the base item increases. The highest bidder (the player who submitted the highest bid using the mechanism above) will receive the epic prize. The bid ranking is public; you always know what the highest bid is.

It’s important to note that while you will always receive the special item you purchased, only the highest bidder will receive the special prize.

Please note:

  • Anyone can participate in this event, there are no user restrictions
  • By participating in the Battle Royal event, players consent to having their nicknames displayed in the bidding table on the MY.GAMES Market Battle Royal page
  • Players participate in the event by purchasing promotional (special) items
  • Only the highest bidder will receive the round’s ultimate prize, listed above the promotional item you need to purchase to participate
  • The prize and quantity of the promotional item changes with every purchase
  • In case several players purchase an item at the same time (for the same price), the player whose payment completes the earliest will be placed the highest in the bidding ranking
  • In case a player purchases an item (and thus places a bid) with 10 minutes or less left to the end of a round, the round is extended by 10 minutes (this happens with every subsequent purchase)

Please make sure you understand these rules before participating in this event.

We are looking forward to your comments regarding Battle Royal – please press the Feedback button on the event’s page to open a form, where you can let us know your opinions.

See you on the battlefield!

There doesn't seem to be an appropriate forum for this, so I'm dropping it here.

I'd normally ignore something like this other than just taking a look at the announcement, but in this case they've gone overboard to make it clear that you will always get the item you purchase.  Okay, great... I'm mean, I would hope so, right?  So that made me wonder what those items actually are.

And I'm still wondering.  Anyone have any idea what this stuff is?  (Other than the vehicles, of course.)  Clicking on the items for more info doesn't help.

(It's not letting me attach the screenshot I took... I'll attach later if I can figure out what's wrong.  Max upload is 0.18 MB?)

Ah, didn't realize we had a total uploads limit.  I've purged some old ones and now have room.

Likely useless freebies like the smiley...

Anyhow, I want to express my utter disgust for this, especially since the rules are laid out very vaguely... Why could that possibly be??? They really want you to spend money with a chance of getting a superprise, rly... f*** off

Anyhow, I hope they won't to it again.

The whole thing just looks like a race to the bottom for the whales. Only one person is going to get the "epic" prize, and unlike a normal auction you'll end up paying the amount you bid regardless of whether or not you got the top prize (at which point you might end up paying $10-15 for a decal).

If they end up doing it again, the only way I'd even consider forking over some money would be if one of the standard prizes was really good and I saw it before everyone else jacked the price up.

I smell something VERY fishy with this:

unknown.png

5 people purchase the item, yet only 1 of them got a reward.  We have already worked out that "I am Shrimp" is a bot driven thing as they placed the bid on everything as soon as it opened.

The comments from Official we're "Use your common sense" regarding this mechanic.  It appears to be a auction, however it costs everytime you bid (so you place a bid at 4, then 6 and you've spent 10).

It also appears to be majorly fucking up as, multiple people placed the SAME bid on the same item - which shouldn't be possible as all bids you put on are +1

This means that these 4 people, couldn't win and it was just taking their money, as somebody else had bid 9.

Also currency conversions appear to be messing people up - there were a couple of cases where due to local conversions, bids were a few cent's lower than the winning cost:

All in all a fucking disgracful milking mechanic for the company to bleed as much money out of people as possible.  It was also noted that 1 person 'outbid' themselves 4 times on 1 item.

Retarded beyond comprehension. Not much else to say.

The pinnacle of disgusting sales tactics targeting people who struggle to safely use money in a common sense. Hard to believe AW people agree with/support this shit.

this shit it illegal in italy

I doubt it.  You're making a purchase (of some stupid decals that only work in your My.Games platform profile, they're not AW decals).  The cost of that purchase escalates every time someone buys it, so if you really really really want some useless decals for your My.Games profile, buy early.

Then, at the end, whoever paid the most gets a bonus prize.

You are not buying the bonus prize - you are buying My.Games profile decals.  You are charged immediately for your purchased and your product (decals) is delivered.  Transaction complete and it's all perfectly legal.

It's likely legal, because lawmakers are old-fashioned and stupid people... And yeah, you buy some stupid product with the bonus of getting something else (the real product). Anyhow, this is shady as F*** and I really hope this won't happen again. From conversations on Discord I feel like even mods/SS didn't agree with this (might be wrong here, just my gut feeling). At least 1 company really benefited from this stuff.

Time to find a different publisher?

Definitely.  At least in this case, though, it's super obvious that it's shady as fuck so hopefully people won't get fooled by it.

Loot crates are also shady as fuck, but they're not nearly as obvious so people get sucked into buying them all the time.

Sounds like prostitution. You're not legally paying for sex, you're just paying for a very expensive escort service with a good time on the side, for "free"

Except you're not guaranteed to get any good time, but you still have to pay for the escort upfront.

Edit: let's play a game of spot the bots. Laughing at stupid, real humans is optional.

A slightly easier way to spot the bots (on the first day) was to check the prizes given out - they didn't match at all.  Several 'people' were bidding on things but getting no rewards, then others started bidding and getting the shit prizes.

From what I have seen - this isn't supported by the community and I hope it dies.  SS' comments of 'use your common sense' seems to me that he may not be a fan of the mechanic at all, but this is speculation and I wouldn't want to get SS to publicly state his feelings on the matter.

One thing I'm really not clear on though - how the fuck are people bidding on an item, but also putting the same amount as somebody else.  That doesn't make sense.  The system shouldn't allow it!  That's potentially the downfall of the system (from a legal point of view) as you are placing a bid on an auction, without the possibility of actually winning.

It.

Isn't.

An.

Auction.

Stop trying to think of it like an auction.  It isn't one, at least not legally.  You're purchasing stupid stickers for an increasing price, and in the end the biggest idiot is awarded with a booby prize.
