----

Current situation:

  • 2022 has been a busy year for the devs so far. New developers (2 studios are involved, and one is apparently quite well known) are still learning the ropes while slowly introducing the new vehicles and preparing the upcoming Chinese theme BP. SS is still not allowed to reveal their identities though.
  • Once the BP is released, they will sit down the discuss various core aspects of the game and see what they can do to improve or change them. They are well aware that gameplay has become stale, and new vehicles play similarly to existing vehicles.

Random tidbits (some are not new info, but I will include them here anyway):

  • PvE and PvP modes will definitely stay, and vehicle balance will still revolve around PVP.
  • The devs are aware that GlOps isn't doing great, but also won't want to remove it from the game, because there is still a number of players who queue for the said game mode. Making drastic changes to queues or restricting player numbers per match (making it similar to 5v5 skirmishes in the past) will risk losing a lot of those players, which is something that they tried in the past but won't want to do again. Nevertheless, they want to do something about it (or at least "salvage" something good from it).
  • Admitted that rebalance in the past 2 years didn't work out great, but it will be reviewed yet again with the new devs.
  • Lots of ideas are being proposed at the moment, such as possible new classes (self-propelled mortar, drone carriers, engineering vehicles), programmable ammunition (other than the HE on Leclerc and T-14 presumably)
  • Self-propelled mortar was tested on PTS in 2018 and that didn't go well, and there were problems implementing this function on ZBD-04A recently, so SS thinks it's unlikely that this class will come back again
  • New user experience will be reviewed - they want to overhaul the tutorial
  • Some new users tend to struggle to transit from low tier gameplay to those on higher tiers - either that vehicles start to play differently, or that the gaps in performance are becoming very significant
  • That said, SS thinks that vehicle progression (i.e. how fast a player can get a tier 10 vehicle down the tech tree) is fine.
  • When asked about number of new players, SS said "high tens of thousands" of accounts were made last year. Making the game available on Epic Game Store helped with the numbers.
  • New vehicle in autumn (new contract vehicle?) will have anti-drone laser, which can be used as a blinding device against enemy vehicles by reducing their vision range.
  • They are aware that optimisation is an issue, especially for newer graphics cards. It's part of a long term plan, but no ETA available.
  • Same goes for sound improvements. SS personally likes "The Voice of War" mod, but obviously they can't implement it directly via official means because they come from other games or media.
  • As for mission tracker (for stuff like Perihelion or the current Heroes of Armored Warfare event), the current database query system is too slow to update, so it won't work well as a live tracker at all. This issue may be revisited if the devs rework the portal.
  • Unstuck function - devs find it not easy to implement, as it seems to break a lot of things. Not available in the immediate future.
  • Thermal imaging was considered and tested internally in the past, but they weren't satisfactory. Given that night vision isn't very well received either, it's unlikely that they will revisit this idea.
  • PVE and Spec Ops maps are being worked on at the moment. A new PVP map is also being planned, but work has not yet started, so it won't come for at least 3-4 months (or perhaps by the end of the year).
  • New Spec Ops will be a continuation after Seahawk Rebellion (i.e. Storyline Camapaign 2017), while SS will continue writing on Perihelion
  • New game mode(s) with their own map(s) are also being worked on at the moment.
  • Notorious "can't shoot helicopters or planes in new desert PVE maps" bug - it's well aware but still WIP (long backlog I'd assume)

Chinese BP vehicles (details may contain errors or be subject to further changes):

ZTZ-20 (Reference image)
As mentioned in the past, SS is not happy about introducing this fictional vehicle to the game (whose design is by an artist well known in Chinese communities), but it was a request submitted by the Chinese partner publisher to the previous developer for their own playerbase. Part of the issue is that there are not many other candidate Tier 10 Chinese vehicles to introduce (and there already is a 99A2-140 in the game).
According to the artist who designed the original vehicle, the coax is supposed to be a 30mm gun.
White phosphorus missiles are the only gimmicks that the ZTZ-20 will have. All other BP vehicles will be quite straightforward.

ZTL-11
Basically a Tier 9 ST1 with soft-kill APS. The devs will try to crank up its firepower to make up for its 8-wheel mobility.

VN17
Tier 8 AFV with 30mm autocannon and two ATGMs (no quick double-tap / salvo fire option etc) with infantry support. Seems pretty bog-standard as far as IFV goes.

ZBD-04A (Reference image)
Tier 7 AFV that will be more or less the counterpart to BMP-3M but with a tad more armour. Obtainable at level 10 in the BP. SS calls it "universal", i.e. suitable for new players and veterans alike with no specialised features. As mentioned above there were plans to make it play like a self-propelled mortar, but that idea is dropped.

all I see is a dead game

they won't get profit from fixing the game as they don't care about a long run, they also don't mine our feedback (rarher banning us for it) so expect only continuous cash grab and even more bugs.

Obsidian must be laughing out hard and I'm too tbh

karma is for free hahahah

Since 2020 the game is sinking lower and lower 2019 was a pretty good year with a great progression line to grind. In all serious the Frenchie line was pretty fun to grind specially cause you could set up the vehicles to your own playstyle with different modules. I am playing the game time by time cause it can be fun but i dont see that much sense cause there is nothing to grind and i won´t count BP missions/challenges as a grind. Cause Silent Stalker is thinking ,,Ha Ha! it makes no sense to add a new progression line cause veterens got millions of credits and EP in stock" here is a idea. Just set the EP requirement a bit higher so players can spend longer to grind a new progression line. Besides that it would be cool to have the choice between different modules like in the Leclerc line and on the K2 Black Panther. I really hope we get the T-80 line complete with a UD and the BVM at least it would be something to grind. Playing premium tanks is getting boring and the devs forgett the fact player get lots of credits by playing them. There should be a use for all credits and the EP World of Tanks also got veteran players with lots of credits and EP to spend.

Well, at the glacial they release anything remotely new in terms of missions/maps, who knew. On the similar gameplay experience with new vehicles, I, personally, see no issues. Lots of players I know would love to see vehicles, derivatives introduced from their country, even though the “play style” is already in the game.

Next to PvE, one of the few redeeming features of the game in my opinion. They already deliver subpar life-support and they seriously considered removing content? :classic_rolleyes:

They achieved some nice effects (e.g., “volumetric” smoke and illumination/ water got a lot better) in the old cryengine. However, any real improvements mean a port to another engine. Which will only happen, if who ever is behind AW now, makes a serious commitment.

The original game with the right path of development has unfortunately turned into some kind of misunderstanding.

"Armored Warfare" versions 0.7 - 0.12 Press F to express respect. Forever in our hearts. Remember. We love. We mourn.

I did a little bit of research and found that some of the relevant developers that are currently involved with meta are Owlcat, One-O-One GAMES, and NEXT Studios. SS said there was a studio that had previously made models for games, and FOX3D ENTERTAINMENT had made models for AW. NEXT Studios is owned by Tencent, so if there are no new developers. The new developer will most likely be Owlcat, FOX3D ENTERTAINMENT.  And it does fit one is apparently quite well known(Owlcat).

I am aware of the life history of this game and follow the news / announcements, sometimes I go to play myself (unlike how I could play 6-8 hours a day without noticing how time passes in 2015 and in the first half of 2016).

And I see how "big" online the game is even in prime time, what is happening in recent years reminds me of how a hopelessly terminally ill patient is supported by artificial life support devices, really.

And now, among the news, once again, there is talk about some new global rebalancing of all vehicles ... supposedly this should change the game for the better (I'm almost sure that there will be another failure).

Are you criticizing? Offer - no problem, there is a proposal and it is quite simple, but it will clearly show in which direction it is actually worth moving on.

Suggestion: hold events like testing the upcoming patch 0.33, when players were launched on the test server with the opportunity to try out the new rebalance and express their opinion. Then it was done in several stages.
It costs about the same to do, only run the game in version 0.11 on a test server, for example. It is better to do this closer to mid-September. It will be necessary to notify the gaming community in advance about this by all possible means, up to mailing to everyone who has ever registered in this project. I have no doubt that such news will attract the attention of former players who have stopped playing.

Within three weeks or maybe even four, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be testing time.

To make it so that each player entering the test server has enough game currency and the opportunity to try out any available equipment (including premium ones), install any equipment and commander, being able to raise the maximum level of pumping without playing a single battle in order to comfortably try out one or other technique, revealing its maximum potential without the need to do "work" with unnecessary waste of time.

Polls:
What should you pay special attention to -
1) booking of main battle tanks of junior, medium and high tiers
2) crew voice acting
3) interface (combat and other)
4) artillery in PvP and how it affects the battles / what to play on it yourself
5) mechanics of masking and detection
6) missile defense systems and the fact that they essentially work the same way, that is, they shoot down missiles on approach to equipment
7) work of dynamic protection / lattice screens / cages
8) commanders and their perks/crew perks
9) additional equipment and its characteristics, how it affects the possibility of unique customization of a particular tank
10) autocannons and how they feel in that balance
11) interest in playing on different main battle tanks and their differences between themselves / between branches of suppliers
12) light tanks and their role on the battlefield, is it more interesting and comfortable to play them in this balance
13) the absence of infantry, but the presence of artillery, which option is more interesting and the battles are more dynamic
14) game sounds in general (gun shots/hit/other interface sounds)
15) gameplay in PvP and PvE modes compared to the one on the main server
16) summarize how the game is more interesting and exciting (it goes without saying that those who are not familiar with this balance may experience some discomfort at first, especially starting from Tier 7, but often it just takes time so that people adapt, try the product and adapt, be able to use the features of the gameplay and enjoy it)

No "realistic battles" or anything else will globally change the situation for the better, because the gameplay will essentially remain the same and will have the same problems that have been in the game for many years already, and the 0.33 rebalance clearly showed that in essence nothing globally has changed for the better. By and large, they simply wasted resources and did not live up to expectations.

So what's stopping you from doing a preliminary test of the same game from the times when the hype around it was great and more was expected from it? After all, this is not the same as spending resources and immediately remaking the main game for something and showing without knowing for sure whether you will like such a change or not, here you just show what has already been done before, in what form the game attracted to attention and won its devoted audience. And based on the feedback, it will already be possible to draw conclusions whether it makes sense to "return" balance 1.0 without losing the game content accumulated over the years of the project's existence or not.

!!! Be sure to remind the players that the gameplay is different on the test server and that the main battle tanks break through into different zones (hatches / observation devices on the tower, the driver's hatch, bottom sheets in the frontal projection), and starting from tier 7, almost all tanks stop breaking through into the lower sheets of the frontal projection, and this has its own interest, its own differences and features.

I don’t know if this will be useful in the end, but I will express my opinion, the opinion of a person who has more than seven thousand battles in two PvP modes and PvE (not in general, but in each of them more than seven thousand).

The "Global Operation" mode, in theory, is the most interesting thing that a game about the battles of modern and near modern technology has to offer. However, now the situation with this mode is extremely sad, and even on Tier 10 vehicles, it is far from possible to get there at any time of the day.
(and there were times when it was possible to get there in 15x15 battles almost at any time of the day without a long wait on Tier 5 vehicles)

I remember when 10x10 battles appeared on three small maps (two summer and one winter adapted from the neighboring PvP mode) and at first it seemed to me not very interesting, but only at first. I soon noticed that the performance in such battles is better, the fps is more stable and the overall gameplay is less toxic and you really have time to do more per battle and influence the match.
The only thing that still annoyed me was, of course, the spam of the bombing by planes, which pissed me off the most.

My suggestion: Enter a condition for the mode and notify about it, enter a description of the mode - make an admission to the mode for vehicles of 3 -10 tiers, but with the condition that 3 -7 tiers will never intersect with 8 -10 tiers. Also, tiers 3 -7 of vehicles will play in the battle format: 8x8, 9x9, 10x10 on three small maps adapted from the neighboring PvP mode (two summer and one winter), which are already available in the "Global Operation". For the first time, try to do this for several months and see if the players will be interested, whether they will play on Tier 3 -7 vehicles, conduct a survey after a sufficient time and draw conclusions against the background of activity statistics in the mode.
I assume that this option may appeal to players, because the gameplay on vehicles of tiers 3-7 is less toxic in general (unlike 8-10 tiers of vehicles in the current balance), battles with a minimum format of 8x8 and a maximum of 10x10 are much more comfortable than more especially 15x15, including FPS and its stability.
The only thing that will need to be decided what to do with the airstrike call is to reduce the number of calls on the map or remove it altogether. Artillery can be launched there controlled by players, no problem if there are no more than two units per
every team.

If this method works, then it will be possible to adapt other maps from PvP "Battles" in the future, many maps will definitely fit into 10x10 battles in "Global Operation".

The main thing is not to forget to set up the matchmaker correctly so that 3 -7 vehicle tiers play -+2 and never get into battles with 8+ vehicle tiers. Perhaps for battles in such conditions on vehicles of tiers 3 -7, it will be necessary to reduce the number of players in one platoon from three to two.
