I have no idea.  That would be a @Silentstalkertype of question to answer.

Well, the marketing intention behind this event is obvious. You do have a chance to get the vehicle from it or you can wait and then buy the remaining crates for money when they are available to get the vehicle. Not exactly the most subtle or cunning plan.

I have no idea where the 10 extra crates came from.  I wasn't paying that close of attention to what was dropping other than to count the parts and rentals, so it's possible that the drop that was supposed to be the 45th Special Crate part was instead 10 extra crates.  In fact, that pretty much has to be what happened as nothing else really makes sense.  Wish I'd noticed it so that I could have taken a screenshot!

Anyway, ZTQ-15 looks pretty cool and I can't wait to dress it up in the Roman skin this weekend!

Yes, I was opening special crates every time I hit 10 special crate parts... most of the special crates were yielding 5 parts, which made me feel a bit better about my accumulating inventory of rental tanks. Then on the last set, there was a drop of 10 extra regular crates instead of the special crate part... this gave me a wave of nausea, as I knew this meant I would be unable to complete the last special crate, and my fate hinged on the extra 10 crates.... with the remaining special crate parts being totally useless.

Hit 99 parts with two unopened crates left. I've never played scratch-off lottery tickets, but this must be close to how it feels.... an odd blend of suspense and anticipation of despair. Received the final part and completed the ZTQ-15 on the penultimate crate (#59/60 regular + 4 special crates). Whew! Took it for a test drive and even with a level 1 crew, it performs nicely.

I might keep the last unopened ZTQ-15 crate in my inventory as a souvenir of the whole experience.

Way back, they gave us each 2 free Object 640 crates.  The first one I opened dropped the tank, so I kept the other one.

I'm now on my 3rd "page" of crates in inventory, because I keep at least 1 of every type of crate that I get.  Or at least I try to... I think I've accidentally opened all of a crate type once or twice.

But for example I still have really old crates that were just "random chance" drops for the Object 640, T-14 152, et al.  And of course I still have Steel and Bronze crates.  It's fun to look through them once in a while.

By the way, the "extra" crates also drop parts of special crates.  So you should have been able to create 5 special crates and then have 9 parts left over.  That's where I ended up (except that I only opened 55 crates, so have 5 crates left and 4 special parts).

So drop $50 or more on a slim chance to get enough parts? I'm sure some people will, and when they have spent money and still don't have enough parts, the backlash will be massive,

The "cunning plan" is based on cultivated over weeks inflated expectation that you SHOULD get this tank for free , thus amplify potential consumer hunger -- just like we got "limited days" of Hunter AFV container sales.

It's really astonishing to see the amount of pissed people in the Discord wo tought they would get a T9 tank just by playing some matches in half-dead mode. The intention of this was obvious from the start and we all know that My.com would not just throw away T9 tanks for the fun of it. We all know how lootboxes work by now, so in the end everyone has to decide for themselves if it's worth it to play the game everyday or not to get those boxes.

Very entertaining to see such people whining these days because they don't have the slightest clue about how such stuff works.  I'm happy with my BVP and the time I saved by not doing the rest :happyseal:

I'm quite sure that this will work out just fine for them because loads of people will buy the remaining crates (even if they feel fooled now for whatever reason), I mean the lootbox stuff seems to work fine for them in general.

Maybe you could call that a questionable move but this was incredibly obvious from the start of this event...

I am very happy to pay for digital fun items when I have the Funds. SHort on Funds due to Sister who owns the family home is in hospital after being in a fatality involved vehicle wreck other drivers fault. So taking my chances with random number gen AKA roulette wheel with 80 parts in hand and one PVP battle to finish with one kill to maybe get the tank.

I think most people's main beef with this lootbox is the assumption that every crate would give at least 1 part for the ZTQ. Instead that part could be replaced by a prem tank rental. So it becomes even more disgusting RNG which makes or breaks people's chances of hoping to get the thing without having to spend a dime.

The funny thing is I wonder how they'll rig the purchase lootboxes so that there may be a greater chance to get rentals in place of the parts. It's easy for them to do dishonest work in the name of profit. Will they do it? Hopefully not, but they absolute can if they wanted to.

Personally this is what annoys me:

"If you collect all 50 crates, you will have a fairly decent chance of obtaining enough blueprints to build it."

Based on this thread and discord results I would not call it 'fairly decent'.

I understand how this stuff works, but I was hoping AW would be better than that other tank game. Over there marketing BS is through the roof. Here at least the approach of SilentStalker is a very refreshing thing in my opinion.

Depends on ones interpretation  of "fairly decent chance" i  suppose , as someone who runs a fairly successful business ( my definition of fairly successful not AW's thankfully )  , i understand "how such stuff works"  , i also understated that pissing off a large percentage of your customers, for a short term cash  grab, is not a smart business plan long term,  and good will goes a hell of a long way to making nice profits,  lets see how this plays out, if peeps can buy parts outright, to complete the tank, that's seem fair to me, but i guess it will be casino crates,

You may also want to consider that this covid crap has people a bit more touchy and on edge ,than they normally would be, my city  has been locked down for the last 200 days, people are over it and getting pissed off by stuff, that normally wouldn't worry them, but i'm happy we are keeping you entertained,

Negative posts will always outnumber positive posts because people who feel spurned are far, far more likely to bitch about it.

Based on past events and what I've seen - meaning data, not bitching - about this one, my guess is that you may have had as much as a 50-50 shot to get the ZTQ-15.  I suspect that it was probably lower than that, perhaps around 25%, but it's difficult to tell.  Either way that's lower than past Battle Path crates where the bell curve seemed to peak at about 50 crates and 3 sigma was between 40 and 60, but it does seem like it's a reasonable interpretation of a "fairly decent" chance.

I can understand that people are pissed over this but I really don't get why people would expect anything different from them at this point.

To me the intention of this was obvious. And the term "fairly decent chance" is just another advertising slogan. As you said it depends on ones interpretation. In this case I strongly agree with @knutliott

Maybe I'm a bit more sceptical about such claims because I'm playing this game since quite some time. I know what some their promises are/were worth (AGDS exclusivity for example) so I usually take such stuff with a grain of salt.

Additionally it's not the first time they're giving away free lootcrates to encourage people to buy the rest. Happened a lot when they introduced new vehicles obtainable via lootcrates.

I fully understand people being mad because they thought they would get the tank given the wording (which definitely is misleading as most advertisements are basically). But why would so many people (especially the long term players) expect anything different from the start?

They're doing such stuff since quite a long time now with "promises" and lootcrates. I'm not sure when the first Lootcrates dropped but it was certainly more than two years ago: For reference: https://aw.my.games/en/news/general/last-chance-type-99a2-140-loot-crate (Here they were providing free boxes as well for example. And I can remember that people were equally pissed about that like the situation we're in now)

Obviously people were angry (me too btw) and everyone was like "short term cash grab" and "you'll piss off so many customers". Yet here we are. This happened like every time we got a new lootcrate or any other "new marketing sorcery" (german community for example is always salty as fuck when they do something like this. Even more than what I experience from the english community).

So more than two years later they are still doing "cheap cashgrabs" and it seems to work very well. Because if you repeatedly continue to do something that does not work out as expected over a period of more than two years I'd call you insane. And my.games or whoever is in charge of that certainly isn't.

So given that I expect my.games not to be insane it's a logical conclusion to say that what they are/were doing is working well enough despite all the hate they're getting for it.

And yes. Near 100% certain that it'll be lootcrates to complete the ZTQ

Please don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to defend anything they're doing. I absolutely despise the whole Lootcrate stuff (I made my mistakes as well in this regard). But to me after all these years their intention is obvious hence why I don't get that so many people were expecting to get a basically free ZTQ for near zero effort. I can understand that they are pissed because they didn't get the tank. I would be too, if I wasted my time on this one with the expectation to get the tank with 100% certainity. But the outcome of this should have been obvious from the start (at least to me personally).

After all they need to earn money too and there's nothing wrong with that. In the end the customer decides if the product is worth it or not. If players don't want to spend money they get a fairly decent game free of charge which is quite fair if you think about it (and you can actually play this game without being pressed towards buying premium stuff, unlike some other games).
