Chinese MBTs get buffs. RIP ATDU. Model changes here: https://aw.my.games/en/news/general/development-model-improvements-update-033-part-2 Quote One of the previously announced Update 0.33 features is a major model overhaul for a number of vehicles. Previously, we updated the Leopard MBT textures, the XM1 MBT and corrected several other issues but now we’re rolling out what many of you have been asking for – the promised Abrams model overhauls. Model geometry check, click the image to open a larger version These overhauls affect the following vehicles: Abrams AGDS M1 Abrams M1A1 Abrams M1A1 AIM M1A1 Storm M1A2 Abrams M1A2C XM1A3 As well as their corresponding skins such as Warhammer or Sentinel. Without further ado, let’s take a look at each of them separately. Model geometry check, click the image to open a larger version M1 Abrams – when we started looking into the details of the planned overhauls, we discovered that the general shape of this MBT more or less corresponds to the real thing, which is why we made a few adjustments to it (such as the shape of hatches) and upgraded its textures. You can see it on the image below. M1 new model, click the image to open a larger version Model comparison (Click to Open) M1A1 Abrams – things got considerably more serious with this model, which is effectively the baseline for all future modifications. We started fixing the older model but by the time we were finished, the model was almost entirely new because we touched pretty much everything. We improved the angles of the hull, the details, the textures and a lot more. One thing that’s missing is some suspension improvements but we’ll add those in the near future. It’s worth noting that this change also affects all M1A1 versions (AIM, Storm), so no model was left behind. M1A1 new model, click the image to open a larger version M1A1 AIM new model, click the image to open a larger version M1A1 Storm new model, click the image to open a larger version Model comparison (Click to Open) M1A2 Abrams – this was almost the same case as the M1A1. The model got improved significantly and, of course, now has the CITV optics that was missing for a very long time. Otherwise, the previous sets of changes apply – improved textures, corrected geometry etc. M1A2 new model, click the image to open a larger version Model comparison (Click to Open) M1A2C Abrams – here, we applied the changes from the M1A2 with one major exception. The front of the turret was remodeled to reflect the relatively recently revealed upgraded armor. It’s a change you all have been asking for and it took us quite some time to get it right. We hope you’ll enjoy it. M1A2C new model, click the image to open a larger version Model comparison (Click to Open) XM1A3 – this vehicle is now built around the M1A2C hull with some extra bells and whistles. The ERA kit is there of course, as is the CITV module. The vehicle now also features the other changes applied to the M1A2 and M1A2C MBTs. XM1A3 new model, click the image to open a larger version Model comparison (Click to Open) Abrams AGDS – and last but definitely not least, the anti-aircraft version of the Abrams also received the correct gun model, new textures, and hull geometry upgrades from the remainder of the Abrams series. AGDS new model, click the image to open a larger version Model comparison (Click to Open) Apart from the abovementioned changes, we have also fixed a number of visual issues (for example, vehicle smoke effects) and bugs (decal placement). The M60-2000 Premium MBT is also getting the upgraded Abrams turret model. M60-2000 new model, click the image to open a larger version Like we mentioned, there are still some smaller issues to take care of (suspension model needs updating) but, generally speaking, this set of upgrades concludes the Update 0.33 model overhaul round. We will, however, continue to work on improving the existing vehicle models in the future updates. I personally can't see any difference between the old and new models, nor do I care that much about them when I play on potato graphics. All the MBTs are basically reskins of each other now anyway. The Terminator 2017 has the same missiles, but on that vehicle they're 4 seconds between shots and 24 seconds to reload 4 missiles. The Stalker should be 2 seconds between shots and 14 seconds to reload to be comparable. (Or 4 and 12, to be even more comparable.) And as a reminder, the Stalker's gun is significantly worse than the same gun on the Terminator 2000, too. I.e. the Stalker has worse missiles than the worst Terminator, and a worse gun than the worst (different) Terminator. It's the worst of all worlds. Qbicle 98 Posted October 14, 2020 You probably won't notice the model changes just by quick glance (or if you don't care about them in the first place). So far the most significant changes on the Abram models are the turret proportions, most importantly on the turret face angles and height. Other smaller changes are on the gun barrel width, surfaces and props such as Combat Identification Panel and crosswind sensor sizes. Sure, they bring very little to no impact on gameplay, but I guess it's something the devs want to do to satisfy some of the really early complaints on Abrams models' quality. Still, they already announced armour bugs on some of the skins in advance. I won't be surprised if there are other bugs hidden in the new model update. Katsumoto 11 Posted October 14, 2020 The K1A1 getting a nerf to the upper plate is not fair at all. The tank went from workable armor in 0.32 to it feeling like a down grade in 0.33. Now its getting a reduction again? Thanks. Quote "If you were not birthed with claws or fangs, store bought will do just fine."
dfnce 28 Posted October 14, 2020 I wish one day they updated Abrams AIM color to some darker colors like true american red and blue flag colors
MK_Regular 24 Posted October 14, 2020 (edited) 5 hours ago, Haswell said: Challenger HESH Changes The HESH and PISH rounds, available to the Challenger MBTs, were changed as such: Reduced the damage per shot value by 100 across the board HESH module damage bonus was standardized to 35% (previously it ranged from 25% to 50% on PISH) Assuming that the total module damage done by a shell is proportional to the damage per shot of the shell, for each of the Challenger HESH/PISH shells that are available: Challenger 1 HESH - 410 damage instead of 510 (19.6% reduction), 135% module damage modifier remains unchanged for total module damage down 19.6% Challenger 2 HESH - 440 damage instead of 540 (18.5% reduction), 135% module damage modifier instead of 125% (increase of 8%) for total module damage down 12% ATDU HESH - 760 damage instead of 860 (11.5% reduction), 135% module damage modifier instead of 150% (reduction of 10%) for total module damage down 20.5% ATDU PISH - 800 damage instead of 900 (11.1% reduction), 135% module damage modifier instead of 150% (reduction of 10%) for total module damage down 20% Yeah, those are some pretty serious nerfs. Part of me wonders if this might be because HESH shells got a massive penetration increase in 0.33 that removed most of the skill required to use them.... My only suggestion for the next round of nerfs for HESH/PISH (if there is one) would be to reduce penetration so they can't go through the frontal armour weakspots on MBTs. It might be worth seeing how well HESH/PISH performs when it can't lol-pen everything from the front and trash all the internal modules.... Lt_Don_Shaljian 1 Posted October 15, 2020 It seems to me the nerf to the ATDU might have been offset with something. Maybe a slight increase in rate of fire. It leaves me not wanting to play the thing. Luckily, there are plenty of other tanks.
JintoLin 9 Posted October 15, 2020 (edited) And changes like this keep the "russian bias" reputation alive. To sum up the changes, buff the russians nerf all others. Edited October 15, 2020 by JintoLin (see edit history)
Haswell 294 Posted October 15, 2020 You know it's a quality game when your hitboxes don't match the visual model. Quote Spoiler
