    What do you use to create tank skins? Photoshop, GIMP or Substance Painter? As I see it, many people just use 2d-editors, but do not paint tanks in the texture editors themselves, like a Substance Painter. Thanks to Substenсе Painter, you can create very complex camouflages in one run and see the result immediately (stripes and spots that start on the turret and continue on the hull or sidekirts). This is how I managed to create Arctic skin for the T-90A (see screen below). In the usual way, with Photoshop, this would take a HUGE amount of time, and it’s not a fact that it would be possible to do all this successfully. Why shouldn't modders use Substance Painter? You load an already tuned game model into it, paint as you need, then simply export the finished result right away. Just import this .obj model (for example i prepared WZ-1224 model) into your Substance Painter and try paint something on it.     Perhaps in the AW timeline, the WZ-1224 prototype landed a nice retirement as a parade tank. Based on a 1980s parade paintjob for a PLA Type 80 tank, adapted to the WZ's more angular shape and different suspension.     A non-historical, but aesthetically realistic skin this time based on nothing in particular. More in line with an AW merc unit getting their hands on a Type 90 and operating in a European theater (don't question it) - repainted in typical NATO CARC camo and a few adjustments. Uses the Winter Warrior assets with new materials to mimic the existing camo nets in the game, complete with transparency, as well as turning the numbered plates into combat identification panels in the style of Abrams tanks. Additionally, the commander's sight as well as the MG were fully removed and replaced by a CROWS RCWS. Rate of Decay took so long to come out, because the new AI pathfinding and the train scene at the end were very complicated to develop. No ETA for the remaining Black Company Spec Ops missions, but hopefully not as long as the delays caused by Rate of Decay's development SS acknowledged concerns that Black Company Spec Ops chain may become very long when they are complete, and it's something the devs are aware of He also admits that the Apocalypse + Exodus 5-mission chain (which has yet to be seen in the weekends) will be long Cooldown timer problem is a top priority fix, and SS has just completed its design documentation a few hours before stream The fact that Exile BP's challenges are already unlocked for since the beginning is not related to the ongoing cooldown timer issue When asked if TOS-1M would be nerfed, SS said its performance will be looked into sometime in the future. The devs will look into vehicles that are constantly underperforming and make adjustments across the board sometime around March or April 2024 Regarding German moderators problem, SS said it's not the first time he's heard of this, but there are no plans to replace them as the accusations tend to be unfounded KF51 "at worst case" will be sold via loot crate, hinting it would be obtainable via other ways (it should be available in blueprints in current BP shop for 1200 coins per piece) The devs are aware that the Bars' current unlock requirement (i.e. play 100 matches with T-80U) is not ideal, as some players resort to leeching and throwing matches. The original requirement was to deal a certain number of damage with T-80U, but it didn't work and the current situation was supposed to be an interim solution, and they did not want to delay its release any further. The next progression vehicles will not feature such requirements. When asked if Bars' requirement can be removed in the distant future, SS said that's possible. When asked if weekend Spec Ops should require minimal play time in missions in order to be eligible for the crate rewards, SS said he would look into it. Raids aren't coming back Past decals won't be added BP shop, because adding items to database is very annoying When asked about various vehicles as possible additions to the game, SS said BMP-2M is a realistic candidate to appear in 2024. T-72M2 Moderna is considered boring, and the Strazh (Ukrainian BMPT based on T-64) is unlikely to come. None of them are guaranteed to appear though. There was a plan for new battalion reward this year, with a candidate vehicle also considered, but priority was superseded by other more urgent matters. SS will return to this topic next year. Tech tree overhaul or changing tiers won't happen, because it causes a lot of mess e.g. internal naming. SS argues that players are also used to established layouts, and changing old stuff may cause backlash, but new additions to tech tree e.g. the Bars, T-80BVM, and Object 292 are fine Team damage in PVP won't be removed, because it's easier to isolate and track bad behaviours "like a brothel in a city". Disabling team damage in PvP will cause players to resort to other behaviours that are harder to track internally. In other words, team damage is the lesser of two evils. AbramsX blueprints can also appear in the BP shop (1200 coins per piece) When reporting a player to support, you won't be informed about the actions they would take, and this is because of GDPR. Tiger Claw is shelved, because lot of manual adjustments is required if it were to be overhauled with objective reward multipliers etc (i.e. programming issue), and it was deemed to take too much resource to do so. There are development plans for the next 2 years (rough estimate) Prospects for infantry management (e.g. movement commands) are gone with Allods Team SS is also aware of bots' ATGMs ignoring player vehicles' smoke and soft kill, but this is difficult to fix due to programming bottleneck The only Spec Ops map that was not developed in-house was American Dream's first mission (aka Unrest), which was ironically outsourced to a team that usually makes World of Tanks map. The map was handed to the devs as a whole "package", making it very difficult, if not impossible, to modify, and this is why it is poorly optimised, as well as why Wages of Sin took so long to roll out. As for friendly damage due to own WP/HE ammunition and enemy vehicles exploding from ammo rack explosions, removing them in PvE would require overhauling ammunition's programming (e.g. WP is currently treated as environment damage of sorts), and results from internal research suggest it's not that the issues are not urgent or frequent enough to justify such endeavour Banning players for teamdamage with settings disabled - forcing players to adhere and punish if they don't is bad - forces people to leave Skins like Nakidka are expensive to make - essentially up to 75% of a new vehicle model, but they also have less programming to worry about BPs are always designed and catered for more seasoned players, and are not recommended for new players with few vehicles available, who should proceed with progression and contracts first SS doesn't want more player designed flags or battalion logos, as the Flag Parade contest was a mess back then SS objects to the idea of solo only missions, because cooperation is big part of AW's experience. Furthermore, if a solo mission is rewarding enough, then players may resort to grinding that instead. As for PvE missions with randomised objectives like those on Albatross or Leviathan, SS thinks it may be possible to implement something similar on other existing maps. Reusing assets from new maps (e.g. textures) on old maps requires a huge overhaul, so this notion has been rejected Game performance issues partially tied to old engine, but SS thinks there are still some merits to the CryEngine. SS thinks the game's current minimal PC requirement is still correct No new rocket artillery planned in the near future after TOS-1M No plans for new progression Balkan vehicles, and SS thinks there are more interesting choices for progression vehicles over those When asked if mega bundles can be sold with a plethora of items, SS said bundles are limited to 9 items at most, but old bundles with "rare" items like titles do return now and then No plans for large wheeled based SPGs like DANA Half-tracks too low tiers and not worth the trouble to implement, and they would probably work like wheeled vehicles Technicals won't come - maybe as a joke vehicle at most When asked if car bomb skin for K-153C can become available, SS said it's possible. They also thought about actual car bombs (e.g. those in Famine), but it's not very fun except the one who is blowing stuff up There will be a winter marathon, including 1k gold reward. There will also be Christmas presents. Players in Discord are not representative of the average playerbase or community in general S Tank would be tier 5 at most, and it would probably require developing dedicated mechanics for it, which is not worth the resources as casemate vehicles are rare. Implementing existing mechanics does not necessarily mean it would be free of trouble (see Jaguar's suspension for example). That said, the devs did look into VT tanks, but such vehicles are considered complicated, and the devs are not desperate enough for them yet Samuel Thrope's redesign will hopefully come sometime next year. SS said he has too much to do and this got pushed further down the pipeline. Will there be more low tier vehicles? Yes. Change vehicle properties akin to the existing skin system is being considered The idea of having different loadout sets as a QoL improvement was considered approximately 2 years ago with the old devs, and while it's possible to take a look at it again, nothing is guaranteed as usual SS won't discuss cheating accusation or anti-cheat measures on streams It is technically possible to implement an "invisible camo" (i.e. no pattern, showing only the base paint underneath), but there are no plans to do so The ever increasing number of premium vehicles is not seen as a problem, and SS says there are ways to obtain them without paying for them (e.g. contracts, prizes etc) Engineering vehicles were once considered as a new vehicle class. They would work like summoners that can create obstacle mounds or fixed emplacements, but they would not be played as support only vehicles (i.e. they can still dish out damage on their own) As for why K-153C is at tier 9 in the first place - the devs simply wanted to have a high tier assault buggy back then. "Will SPG get HE shells that are comparable to TOS-1M's rockets?" Artillery overhaul is underway and they will be looking into that. AS90 contract should come Q1 2024 at best, with arty overhaul to come sometime before it Technical integration of models is taking time, and it's lagged behind because development of Exile BP took priority Upcoming new content: UAV launchers -there are screenshots of them posted on Panzersofa. The devs are still working out how to implement or balance them (e.g. should they contribute spotting damage for the player?), and there will be at least two types of drones: attack drones and recon drones Lynx IFV based on the one used in trials - exact configurations TBC Autocannon will return to Wiesel in one form or another - either as an optional turret on progression or as a separate premium vehicle, but it would be a gift or a reward if the devs go for the latter, not to be sold. It was supposed to come in a marathon around September, but pushed back due to Exile BP taking priority. A new competitive PvE game mode is being planned, but it is not easy to develop. There are also plans for a new PvP game mode, but it's even more complicated. When asked if it's horde mode, SS simply replied with "no comment".

    Skin for tier 7 M1A1 Abrams based primarily on tank 12 "Archangel" of Australian Army 1st Armoured Regiment with matching callsign and serial numbers applied. Pattern is kept mostly accurate with some necessary adjustments due to how the UV mapping works out. Also included is a skin for the tier 8 M1A1 AIM using the same base pattern but with the name and numbers of tank 23B "Barely Legal" from the same regiment.     This is a mod for the TOS-M1. Not perfect but I think it's good enough for not having Adobe Substance Painter or another program like it. Some weird red tiny red spots but... yeah. Anyway. Criticism is alright. I don't think I'll put any effort into making the mod more "clean". Again talking about the random red spots. Maybe in the future when I get motivation again? Install the mod into the proper location in the English folder. The supplied .zip starts with the object folder assuming you have never installed a mod before.     The world is diverse. Everyone has different likes and interests. I will not impose my values on anyone. People who like these mods will use them, and those who don't can look at them then turn them off. This is a normal thing. But one thing is for sure, the community is moving in the direction of prosperity. If you don't think this is good, you can try to make a better one. Many guide are here. When you post it I'll give you a good review.

    ...Ohio. I've been playing Armored Warfare since the days of alpha testing. I have vehicles from tiers 1-10. I almost exclusively do PvE but will do PvP with folks who actually know how it's done. I play mostly weekends with 1-2 evenings a week. I 'm in EST time zone, GMT -4 or -5 depending on daylight savings time. Personally, I'm a Critical Care RN heading for retirement in a couple of years...I'm an old fart. Looking forward to meeting folks in game where my handle is "Kokopelli".

    Think that what SS is saying on Discord (as you displayed in your responds), is the main issue why the game does not improve. They only want to hear their own opinion and are surrounding themselves with "always agree". Bit like the old communism system. "The party is always right, and we think for you, because we know what you want (in game)". Thanks for all those very nice skins Arto. Really appreciate it. And when AW/ SS can't handle critic (Apparently, they can't make the difference of whining and critism for reason that we want the game to improve, because we like the game), then it says something about them. (and the future of the game). But please provide us with the nice skins. Your works is (at least) my gameplay much more fun).

    Been a while since we got one of these. Again, interesting stuff in bold. There may be a review on global game balance. T-80UM1 Bars and Object 292 will likely come in August/September. Investigation of softkill APS effectiveness against bots is on hold. Bringing back PTS has been WIP for almost a year now. "Turns out, it's not easy to set up a new shard and a lot of things got in the way." T-80UM1 will require you to play T-80U, 292 will require you to play UM1 (or BVM). It'll be achievement-based, like the Faraday dealer The game is planned to be around for several more years at least. No plans for Twitch drops There will not be another arty test, the devs already know what to do from the previous test. There will be a major push of content this summer (ie. ads, bonuses), mainly towards newer players. The devs are exploring multiple directions for the game right now: A MOBA style game mode that will gradually replace GLOPS Replayable PvE (ie. horde mode) that will become competitive PvE A realistic battle mode ecosystem using "tier 11 but not really" vehicles by converting existing vehicles to more modern variants Physics issues are game engine problems which are very complex to fix. KF51 is planned Platoon-only PvE modes that allow less players per game may or may not come. PvE is currently a weak spot for the devs. The next BP theme is "expeditionary" - lots of traveling. (note: the traveler from the story?) Devs do not want arty to become more like traditional TDs which are stealthy, accurate and mobile (note: what exactly is a traditional TD at this point?) PT-76 and T-55M1 are legacy vehicles, they won't be obtainable again. More stuff will be added to the coin shop in the next BP. The commander system right now isn't perfect, but it works well enough and is popular, there likely won't be any major reworks soon. Tkvarcheli, Grindenwald maps in GLOPS for 10v10 skirmishes are not planned. The maps are too big and players take too long to get to the fight, plus SS just don't like GLOPS skirmishes. No plans to add cross-play with consoles. Console development ended in like 2018 and still belong to My.com, not the current devs/operator. Techart (ie. guns working, ERA working) development have been slow for the past few months as the person in charge have been busy, changes such as the T-series side ERA panels are affected. No plans for Challenger 3 or Leopard 2A7 (note: we already have the Leopard 2A7 in all but name) Premium vehicles not purchasable with gold are intended to be that way. Daily login bonuses not working is being worked on. Allowing low player-count matches may affect server load (more matches are active), this is one reason why it hasn't been a thing. The coming summer marathon will only have camos, no premium vehicles. It is very difficult to separate 3D models from skins (ie. foliage, extra bits) to let them be used with other camo patterns, it will require overhauling the skin system. SS had thought of special skins that affect vehicle properties, like changing their stats and tier (ie. convert T-72B to T-72B3 Mod. 2023). This is very complex and won't come this year. The skin system will need to be overhauled at some point, as the value of skins decrease when vehicles already have lots of skins to choose from. Hardcore mode for tier 3 vehicles is not available, because new players will get upset by the difficulty and leave. 220mm rockets on the TOS has okay balance now, though not that great in PvE. Otomatic and Gepard will be in the coin shop of the next BP. The current British contract will only last one or two more weeks, it will be replaced soon. Long queue times in spec ops is more due to that there haven't been any new spec ops maps for over a year now, and the current ones are not very well received. No plans to add more localization for Asian languages, they are very expensive. SS will look into why tiers 1-6 have ammo fast swap for everything, while at tiers 7-10 only MBTs and LTs and a few other exceptions have it. (note: because 0.33/0.37 were so disconnected in terms of consistency) No plans for saving vehicle loadout presets right now, but it may come in the future. No plans for the Pereh right now. There may be more progression vehicles in 2024. There are plans to add new infantry types for the next BP vehicles. Partial reload being removed on the M113 Hellfire is intended to address an exploit. It will be re-added when the issue is fixed, hopefully this year. The partial reload mechanic is very complex and have a lot of issues that need to be fixed. SS hardly ever play PvP and prefer PvE to be the direction of the game. An idea to counter the TOS was to give some MBTs a Sentinel system (APS that work against rockets), but that didn't happen. It may come in the future. Raids won't return, the previous raid was very poorly received. Jaguar will be sold in lootboxes later, not sure about the TOS. Realistic Battles won't return this year, it will need to be overhauled to have purpose and rewards. When Rate of Decay launches, the four Apocalypse and one Exodus maps will be added to the War Games rotation. Rate of Decay will come in September or October, it is almost ready. To make low tier vehicles more popular, one idea is to let them play Realistic Battles. The other preferred idea right now is the Dead Pool event. Samuel Thorpe commander will probably get new skills in the next BP. Dead Pool won't come this year. Low ammo capacity on the Gepard is intended as a balance feature. There will be a new website and web store. A system to switch between the main gun and RCWS is being worked on. Very few China skins are usable for the EU market, so they are generally disabled. It took half a year to make the AbramsX work. There was an idea to replace the Shadow for the battalion contract, but that idea went into the next BP so there will need to be new ideas. Thorpe's diary will be fully readable after the current BP ends. (note: or you can just download my PDFs here: https://armoredlabs.net/index.php?/topic/90931-eclipse-bp-thread/&do=findComment&comment=98963) No plans to add bonuses for returning players, as players who left are unlikely to return. No Lootdog for EU. Regarding Supertest: there used to be RU players who test new things on a test server, but there is no test server anymore. There are also a few players that SS trust to give him advice, but not really a Supertest program. SS isn't a fan of the Supertest concept in general, as vehicles being tested mostly came out fine. Most of the problems are QA problems. Some new ideas: a "summoner" support vehicle class that fight by summoning infantry, bunkers, towed guns; ARV "healer" class; self-propelled mortars; flamethrower tanks (rejected because it's stupid). But the next BP is still fairly conventional. AbramsX shouldn't have been released with the broken armor, but no additional tests or advisors could have stopped its release. It's now fine after the fix. Puma is coming, but it is a rather generic IFV. No plans for Javelin infantry as they would be rather underpowered, but it's an option for the future. AbramsX is a great success (in sales). Missing machine guns will be looked at; some vehicles may get 12.7mm guns. No plans for new ammo types for the Otomatic. SS's favourite vehicle in the game is the T-72B. Better decal placement is being worked on, but very low priority. The model for the 20mm Wiesel is lost/corrupted and will need to be redone from scratch, it may not be worth doing it. HEAT ammo not dealing max damage with Designate Target may be a bug. SS is not a fan of weeb stuff, though he enjoy Ghibli movies and older anime. SS is against fake vehicles as a principle. Fake vehicles are bad because they don't represent anything, there are no stories behind them that players can relate to. Players prefer real vehicles and realistic camos/skins. Abrams models won't be overhauled again, they have already been overhauled three times before. (note: and there are still issues with them) SS planned to have a world boss ZTZ-20 with the Eclipse BP, it would randomly appear in different maps and give unique rewards to players for defeating it. That didn't happen. The vehicle pool for bots can be expanded again, to include TOS bots for example. No plans to add more TOS-like vehicles.

    Here is a thread for you to suggest skin ideas to be modded in - mostly for myself, but if others like Tahax and Tobiichi are interested, I encourage them the pick up some suggestions too. Just let me know if you claim any. :) Lets lay down some ground rules: 1. Be respectful. AKA don't be a dick. 2. Please include some pictures with your suggestion. The more, the better - multiple angles, close up shots of any insignia or markings - it all improves the chances of your suggestion being realised. 3. Suggestions based on real tank photos will have higher priority. Fantasy / other game / movie skins are not out of the question, but have lower priority.     Just don’t tell the game developers that they can make skins that are a little more complex than a couple of decals and camouflage, they will be hysterical. The skin is good, it would be nice to add similar skins to the game like in WT on the exchange/market and sell them in the game for players, since Soap corps is too lazy to make normal skins for tanks.

Top-attack missiles' penetration buff was actually implemented on 25th November, but it was undocumented and the notes are added here in retrospect. That said, C13 TUA's top-attack missile remains unchanged. The Hellfire's change is to make its Improved Missile Launcher overprogression upgrade (increases rate of fire at the cost of total reload time) optional, whereas before it's essentially irreversible unless you sell the vehicle and buy it again. As for SPG overhaul: In general most SPGs now gain HEAT or HESH shells in addition to their HE shells, with accuracy and aim time buffed Some HE shells have slightly lowered full pen damage, but partial and non-pen damage have been buffed overall As for why Msta-S remains unchanged, SS explained before maintenance that there were concerns where some players may become unhappy, because the high tier premium vehicle they paid for changed drastically, which can risk demands for refund, hence "the best option is to simply leave everyone with exactly what they paid for". The reason why Abbots are overhauled was because they were "cheap and useless enough to warrant an overhaul". Panzerhaubitze 2000 has a bug where switching to damage shells or support shells would incur a long switch time (22s)

It's funny, after I started testing the sound in the game, I realized that a very similar sound has been used for a long time on autocannons 50 mm and above.     Some final impressions Leveling mechanics - grindy and repetitive, as usual Samuel Thorpe commander failed promise to deliver, again Over-progression boxes loots mechanics again non-transparent just like in Age of Rage BP.     Historically? Historically! Did the author of the mod recreate the unique look authentically? Reliably! Is it better and more appropriate than the shitty skins officially created by the game developers and introduced such as the "Archangel" and "the Kraken" (their kind)? Better and more appropriate even! Any unique historical skins or camouflages (other) will be much more appropriate than something invented under the influence of drugs. Should developers officially introduce such unique skins into the game? I can't say for sure if it's worth it or not. However, here we are talking about an amateur mod that no one forces anyone to download and install. I consider it extremely inappropriate to breed some disputes here and drag in politics, historical events and breed demagoguery with a value judgment, and yes, I say this, a person condemning any war outside of video games. I downloaded this mod and threw it into my game, I will see such a unique look on the tanks of other players. Diversity? Completely, yes.
